Help with junkyard mods

This week sometime, I am planning on going to the local junkyard with my dad to look for some parts for my '88 GT, so far my list is :

Explorer intake
MAF swap parts
E-fan
Five lug swap parts

Now, this is my first car and the first time that I have really been involved in the mechanical aspects of cars. I've been reading around here for a while now and have a lot more knowledge than I did about a year ago but I still have tonnes to learn. So, lets get to my questions.

What all do I need for the explorer intake? Is it a direct swap? Do I need just the intake or do I need the fuel rails or the throttle body? Also what year explorer do I need to get this from.

Well here's where I'm really out of my league, I'm not sure the differences of Mass Air compared to Speed Density other than that I've read that if you plan on modding your car with cams or heads that It's best to have MAF. I won't be doing anything too serious to my car for a while, just the basic bolt ons, but If I will need the MAF for a HCI swap later down the road, I would like to have it taken care of in the early stages. So I guess basically I need to know, what I need for the swap, and how it will benefit me over the stock '88 Speed Density set-up, pictures would also be very helpful.

One question I have about the Eletric fan, is what kind of an alternator I will need to be able to run it and my stero. I'm not too clear on my stero plans yet, but it will most likely involve and amp or two. Also I've heard that I can get a fan from either a taurus, or a lincoln of some kind. Wich is my best option. What will it take to install either of them as far as parts, besides the actual fan.

Lastly, the five lug swap. So far I am aware that I need two drivers side ranger axles (can't remember what year) and a 94-95 or 96 ( - 04?) mustang to get the parts from for the front. Do the V8 and V6 models both have the sma componens? What all is included from the front setup that I need? Again, pictures would be very helpful. I've read that if I use post 95 mustang parts that this will make it wider by 8mm, is this on each side or over all? Sould I just stick to 94-95 parts? I would like to run 9 inch wheels up front, and I do have the front fender lips rolled. I also plan on using cobra/mach 1 brakes, and a maximum motorsports sport box. Will everything be compatible?

Sorry for all the questions at one, but as I said before, I'm young and new to this whole thing and I have much to learn. Thanks a lot for any help/advice that I may recieve, and lastly, I hope I posted this in the right forum. If not, could to please move it to the correct one?

The search function is going to be your friend on these topics man. They're probably some of the most covered issues out there.

Here's what I can help with. I havent converted to 5-lug yet and dont need to swap to mass air. but....

Explorer/Mountaineer Intake:
Grab the intake and throttle body. Its a nice intake and the throttle body is ~65mm (will need slight modification to work on a fox)

If you see the cylinder heads...grab those too. They are better than the E7s you've got now and will offer better increases in HP than just the intake. search GT40 or GT40p heads.

E-Fan:
Grab an electric fan from a taurus or a Lincoln Mark VIII. The Lincoln fan is huge and is probably one of the best fans you can get. You'll definitely want to upgrade to a 130A alternator. Look for 94+ mustang "3G" alternators. Search and you'll find how to upgrade the wiring to handle the bigger alternator.

Look into a controller for the electric fan. "delta current controller" is a nice option (and what I run).

Ok, I will try searching. But, don't the GT 40p heads require different headers? I would like to be able to re-use what ever headers I buy now later on down the road when I do HCI.

Nope...GT40 heads use standard headers, GT40P's use GT40P headers. 96-mid 97 Explorers had the 'regular' GT40 heads, that's what my Explorer motor built 4/10/96 has on it. :D The early Exploders also had the 'better' intake, it's an easier swap than the second version of the Exploder intake because it's setup for all the EGR crap and all the foxbody hookups. :D
