I didnt pass inspection becuase my reverse lights dont work. They said I need a new switch, but I remeber when my old neighbor put in my clutch a few months ago that he was doing it fast and mabye he forgot to reconnect the switch for reverse lights..... or am I thinking wrong? What does it look like? Can anyone getr me a pic so I can run outside and check before I pay them 75 for a new switch.

the reverse light switch should be up close to the top on the drivers side of the tranny if i remember right, its a two pin plug, i'd asume it probably just isnt plugged in

Get a circuit test light and check the plug with two holes. One side should have power at all times with the ign on. The switch is just a ball bearing that touches a housing when the reverse lever is pulled across it. I would bet doughnuts, that the switch connector is either reversed, not attached, or needs to be re-attached. I would try the circuit tester if none of the above work.

Worst case on the part is that you will have to pay a restocking fee. If they were the ones that told you it is bad, that is their fk up. I would NOT pay. Work with the manager and explain the situation and tell them a friend merely plugged the socket in and your mechanics are poor if they could not figure that out. Let them take you to court if need be, I'll back ya! I hate shady shops. I would have checked the plug and continuity and charged $20 for diag if I had a shop. That reason is one of many I fix Everything on my car except mounting and balancing tires. Good skills to learn to fix everything yourself. But I have been doing it for 18 years so I have a little more milage.

Yea I told him I didnt need the part and he gave me something about how he special ordered and there is no refund on special orders, and I said "well I wouldnt have agreed to order it if u guys didnt say I NEEDED it" he said "well we saw that it would work if you plugged it in tight but it was still intermitant working (which I never noticed) so its best to just throw it on since we have it.... free labor" so I just said w/e

Maybe it's different in the newer trannies, but in the older trannies (Fox) the switch is internal and not adjustable or easy to replace IIRC.

I wonder if they may be taking you for a ride...
