I don't imagine PTV would be a problem as long as the cams are degreed.

Yes, you can replace the springs in situ but it's a pain. I've got 262AHs and stock springs with no problems (yet...)
 
you will be really close to hitting your pistons with those cams. i would make sure they are degreed perfect if not retard them a degree to make sure. i would also swap springs. your already there and trick flow makes a tool that makes it easy. trust me i thought it would be hard but it really was not
 
Almost everybody on all the boards ended up having PTV issues with the 270's. You might search all the boards, corral, MPH, modularpowerhouse, the Depot, etc.

This has been one the most debated cams in 2v history. So many cars have had issues with them over the years and had serious valvetrain/motor problems.

Comp are still stuck in Chebbie land. Their springs they spec for PI heads are actually speced for NPI install heights and are a tenth of an inch off for PI heads. You install their specified springs in your PI heads and you are no better off than the stock springs.

At 113 intake centerline which is what they are doing now you have 0.000000001" of clearance in a stock PI motor no matter who made the piston.
 
I had (still have) the 270's in my car naturally aspirated with both stock pistons, and then a 5cc dish diamond. I never had ptv issues. I had the cams properly degreed and used the 113 springs, now I have 125's. I did however have the cams installed in SVO heads which may offer some additional clearance, but I am not sure on that. They have been decked like 3 times so any additional clearance is probably gone.

Honestly you should never re-use springs when going to a new cam profile. There are a multitude of reasons to change springs even if you just install new stock springs you are better off...even in a stage one cam.

I don't know of anyone who has swapped springs with the motor in the car.

I would never suggest re-using springs, especially when the cam has a different net lift and lift rate. You are setting yourself up for potential failure. Doing something right the first time is the best way to save money in this hobby. Good luck, the 270 is a great cam when properly installed properly.

SVO (and NPI for that matter) heads have a full 1/10 of an inch more PTV clearance on the intake valve than a stock PI head. The 5.4 PI also has 1/10 of an inch more clearance than a 4.6 PI. 1/10 of an inch is like the Grand Canyon and the stock 4.6 PI is like a drainage ditch on the side of the road for comparison.
