Here's what I've been up to (66 fb, work in progress)

I've been lurking around here a bit, not saying much, but I just figured I'd let you guys see what I've been doing. I have had this car since 2000, and it's been sitting a lot lately, but around October I really started digging into it. I've been keeping a website but I figured I'd wait and see if it ever started looking like a car again before I drew attention to it.

So far I've done a full floor, frame rails, aftermarket seats, and most of a roll cage. I'm currently in the process of cutting the trans tunnel to fit the tr-3550.

Do you think i'll have to redo the trans tunnel for a TKO600?

If you want the driveline angle to be reasonable you'll have to modify the tunnel under the dash for clearance. Not as major surgery as needs to be done to a 65/66 as the 67/68 cars appear to have more clearance.

Looks like your really making progress! I remember when I started my project. I had bought all the fiberglass Shelby parts already, I had a few thousand dollars saved. I started on November 24, 2002 and thought I would have it done by April 2003. Here it is nearly April 2008 and it's just now getting finished!

Yeah it really is a big job, I had no idea how big when I got into it. I got lucky this year though; it's senior year and I got extra loans this year because I applied on time, so I decided what the hell, might as well quit my job and not have to work for a few months before I hit the real world running. My generous dad is funding this thing, and it turns out that my spring semester school schedule is a joke, so I have lots and lots of time. I can pretty much work full time on the car.

And yeah I am learning as I go. I had taken this thing apart a couple of times before but never on this level. It's a steep steep learning curve; what I did in the first 2 months I could probably do in a couple weeks now. But it's great. Hopefully I can use this experience to get a fun job someday.

I've wondered a few times what had happened to you but you have pbviously been busy, nice job BTW. I thought for sure my car would have been done by spring 05' but October made 3 years since the accident and if I get on the road by this spring I'd still be happy. Funny how it took less than a weekend for me to strip the thing down but it seems I have way more parts to put back on now.

Howdy Jason!

And howdy to a lot of my other old buddies too!

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that the car is lookin' good homie. Glad you're getting to do it right.

Quick update on me for the curious: 66 is still here and darn near done, but I ran out of time and money for it. In the final stages of body work on my heavily tricked out 56 F-100 project. As soon as it's done and sold, I can get back to the fastback.

Well lookee here its the texican! Whats up Blake! Long time no see man. My dad is wanting to buy a 56 f100 real bad.....he's got a hard on for those old stepsides....and I like em too. Would love to see some pics.....

Howdy Bob!

I don't have any current pics right now, but right now it's mostly just a cab in primer. Gonna be black with the true fire flames, EFI 5.0, T-5, lowered but still has the straight axle, over 150 holes welded smooth. Gonna be pimpy when it's done. I'll make a point to stop by when it's lookin' like more and show off.
