been a while since i've posted on here! so uh, whats up? lol anyways i got a question.

theres a kid runnin his mouth around town that his 66 is faster then anything. well natually, i have to step in and tell him no. i told him to run a 94 v6 5 speed (CAI and exhaust, other then that stock) that im good friends with and see how he does. said that car is liek a 17 second car. anyways, sometimes you gotta look over ignorance.

his mods:
performer 289 intake
edelbrock carb "detuned" was his word, looks small tho
headers and flowmasters.

now my question. how well would he keep up with me? both being autos.

his setup is about the same as my 65 fastback...my 67 coupe is setup about the same but i think a tad better than your car....HUGE difference....his car would run mid 15's...yours would prolly pull a mid to low 14.

If you have the 2.80's you'd be REALLY lucky to hit any kind of 15.

Well your got a small cam and it doesn't look like he does. So I would pick yours. But don't make any mistakes and hope he doesn't have a set of gears.

I ran 15.4's on street tires with no tire spin. Gears greatly help with acceleration. Did you run your car on a chassis dyno to get those HP and TQ numbers?

they are wheel power, i believe it was a dynojet.

how did your 3.55's effect town driving? high revving?

both are c4 autos (3 speed). plus i have the good driver mod versus him. he about lost it by doing a fishtale in the rain, which he should have thought, hey, its slick, maybe i shouldnt do that haha

i spoke from the fact of all the different cars i raced light-to-light in my 67 and how my car reacted with open 3.00's. I completely blew away a single cab dodge ram hemi...and i raced with several camaro ss's and was able to keep up until we hit 100 lol...gearing will hurt you some, but not much...my stock 302 when i first got it had a spool 4.11 and it was equally as fast as my roller with 3.00's

My setup is also similiar in my '67, with a stock '90 5.0 long block, performer intake and at the time, a holley 600 w/vacuum secondaries. T-5 tranny and 2.80 geared open rear end. I ran 14.7 @ 96 mph on street tires with wheel spin issues. Hp calculators come up with 200-220 rwhp depending on whether you use the time or mph. I would think 65fastback2+2's time would be similiar with a lighter? car, although the auto trans might hurt some.

you have to remember racing isnt all about power, its about driving too. Same car,two drivers, one driver can run a better time due to skill. Because one car can run a mid 14 doesnt mean ALL cars with same combo will the same.HP doesnt mean anything unless the torque is there to get it to move. I still say 15's are a wish away.

My car has a 9" 350 limited slip.
60mph is close to 3000rpm. I also have a 3000 stall and I love this setup. I rarely drive on the highway though.

I've only run the 1/8. Do any of you have you 1/8 numders.

mine always felt like a mid 14 car. the auto trans has a shift kit in it and i can scratch when i hit 2nd. I have the biggest rear tires for a 14" rim, 245/60R14 and they are b/f goodrich radials. i have very little wheel spin issues. Plus with the fiberglass front end im a little lighter than average.

My 3.55's were a great step up in performance over the 2.80's. It is not a great gear ratio for my naturally aspirated small block at the strip. I would prefer 4.11's. But I still drive it on the road and to and from the track so I will be keeping the 3.55's while it is a street car. I keep the revs at 3000 on the highway (about 60 mph) and everyone passes me.

The car still performs pretty well though. I ran my best 1/8 mile time 2 months ago.
