High pitched "squeel" under WOT shifts....

Did a few WOT runs tonight, just practicing my driving.
I noticed when i shift hard 2-3-4, i get a faint high pitched squeel, immediately as the clutch catches. what could this be? it goes away after a split second of it catching..

any ideas?

it could be your belt tensioner, i don't know if ford ever fixed that problem, it's highly prone in most mustangs.

mine does that and I've got an auto 1-2 and 2-3 and its even done it 3-4 If I'm on it hard

yeah it's an aluminum piece, last time i looked Autozone has a Steel one for the 4.6L

My auto does it sometimes on the 1-2 shift. Other threads on here asking the same thing ended with recommendations on installing a Gatorback fan belt.

Bingo! That's a pretty well-known cure for that problem with Ford truck owners.

your right, its the belt squealing because of the sudden rpm change while shifting gears, auto's and manual's both do it....96-98 and 99-04
