HIPO Manifolds/Exhaust Question

Hello everyone. I need some advice on my current 65 fastback project. The car came with old rusty tri-y headers and a Hpipe setup with flowmasters. The car sounded real nice. During my upgrades from 4spd to 5spd, I discovered the tr-y headers did not offer a good path for alignment of my cable conversion. With this said I decided to go with HIPO manifolds instead. I need to know how to setup the rest of my exhaust from the manifolds back to get a nice sound... H-pipe??? X-pipe???? Pictures????

Definitely go with the H-Pipe... I used the Flowmaster Delta Flow 50's. The 40 series that my buddy uses have more drone that I care for. I took a 1500 mile trip with my setup and the exhaust noise never bothered me.... a trip to Atlanta gives me headache in the car with the 40s.

Seems kind of a waste to bottleneck a 347 with manifolds, even the Hi-po's. Unless you plan on porting them. I'd try shorty's before doing that.

Amen to that! Or, ditch the cable and go hydraulic clutch. Yeah, it's a few bucks more, but changing exhaust isn't cheap either...

i'm sorry to hijack this a little, from what i have heard hydraulic clutches have more of a lag...are they more money for the technology or because they are better? For better performance I would recommend an X-Pipe over an X-pipe, but i dont know how they fit on a 65....i have the GT dual exhaust with tri-y headers and spintech mufflers. this setup has a bass rumble in the low rpms and more screams when it is at high rpm's. but i would totally get some headers, the hipo manifolds really arent that great for that extra vroom.

rebel65-------- hydraulic clutches don't have any lag, whatsoever.Whoever told you that doesn't know what he's talking about. I've got a hydraulic setup in my 89 V8 Ranger, for the simple reason that, the truck already had it. Works fine, even with the 35 yearold Toploader 4 speed.

i suggest hearing the difference between the delta 40's and the delta 50's because they have quite a difference in how loud they are, im going to get some delta40's for side exhaust soon...but im just that way.
