Just curious as to what kind of numbers you put up at the track. I have 30# injectors with the bottom end stock. I heard that they are hurting me a bit and could do better times with 19's or 24's.

Please give me your times and mods done to your car including type of tires (Dr's, slicks ).

Thanks,

Jim

It seems to me that with stock heads and cam you are doing pretty good man. I would say the intake is too big and the injectors too, but the numbers are there

Intake and injector size is fine, no problems.

You need more gear to run harder on motor.

Hows your tune?

Grn is right, the injector is fine...it isn't hurting you that bad like 'they' say...

I have seen a person swapping from 30's to 24's and the sampling tube and gained at the track...and he said it ran smoother. I have no doubt mine may run smoother with 24's as well.

People run faster mph's with less gear than that...so gears isn't your problem.

You can gain with a steeper gear and that particular combo...

Are you using the 'kit's cam?

You may want to make a seperate thread (if you haven't already) about the misfire when hot. Maybe it is your TFI on your distributor? Good Luck...

i guess i will keep the 30's then. if i changed i would have to change the mass air meter too, correct? it is the cam that came with the kit. i heard that this cam is a little much for the kit. its power band is definately in the upper rpm's as opposed to the lower for sure. i will definately start a new thread about the misfiring when hot. it is annoying as he%^!!

thanks for replies

p.s. i actaully had a chip burned for it 2 years ago, so the tune should be fine although it still pops when cold after the tune!

The problems people have when going to 30lb injectors is usually due to a stock tune with a maf that fools the computer into thinking that it still has stock injectors. If you have a tune the low rpm rich condition alot of people have with those injectors should not be present if your tune was done correctly. I think that the only thing holding your car back is the fact that you have a upper rpm combo with only a 3.55 gear. 3.73's 3.90's or 4.10's would help make up for the lack of low rpm torque by getting your revs up faster. Of course with out tires you probably not gain anything.

i always thought it wouldnt make that much a difference. if i ever need new gears or a rebuild, i will change them with 3.73's i guess!

thanks

3.55's to 3.73's is a very minute difference...not worth it in my opinion. A steeper gear MAY help, but then you get higher revs, shorter 'traffic' gears, more engine braking. Those are a couple things I can't stand in a daily driver, but if I had a 'street car' or 'track car', I could take it for that extra slight edge

Yep, you would have to change out MAF's that are calibrated for your injectors. C&L MAF's have sampling tubes you can swap out, but may not be as accurate or 'tuneable' as a built in tuned MAF, like Pro-M...

Like said above I'm not sure that the gain from 3.55's to 3.73 wouldn't be enough to deal with unless you had to tear the rearend apart for some other reason.

Very nice car Rick!!!
