You DON'T need premium unless you advanced the timing or you're getting detonation.

A GT is designed to run on 87.

it just dropd from 320 to 291.. not bad but the military dosnt pay S$$T and most of money goes to mods and my home... so 250 miles out of a full tank in the city is WAAAYYYY better than what I was getting before (150-170)

Like San-man said, N/A GTs are DESIGNED for 87 octane, and might actually run worse with premium. Now if your blown or advance the timing, that's a different story.

I thought the newer GT's (99+) require a higher grade than 87? I know the slow 96-98's use 87. My friends stock 01 GT runs on 91 octane.

yeh we had the tune at 91 (its the highest you can find in cali with out driving 4 hours to get higher) and my gas was draining quickly I was getting around 150-170 city with below 2000rpm shifts, so we re-did the tune for 87 and my gas jump to around 250 with shifting at 3k and spirited driving....weird but hell my engine is running great and my gas is better so im NOT complaining

Tuned for 93, running 93 and getting 250 a tank around town and 300 or so on longer highway drives keeping her around 75mph.

Mind me asking how you accomplish this? Downhill for 50 miles in Neutral with a tailwind? Secret reserve tank somewhere? You have to be running the tank to damn near last drop before filling up!
