Hood hinges

Hi was wondering if anyone has had issues with Dynacorn premium hood hinges?My old hinges measure 40 inches o center to center my new ones are 40.5 I guess i could use shims but that's a big gap once you open the hood I'm also using a Fiberglas Shelby hood thanks

where are you measuring from? the hinge to the core support or hinge to hinge? can you post pics, are you sure you have the correct hinges?

I'm measuring from center of hinge bolt to center of the other side currently the car is at shop to get painted so can't post any pics the old hinges lined up ok but one of them was pretty worn out so I got new ones these seem a little thicker I'm thinking that's the problem got them from cjpony thanks for your input

Hmmm… Now you're making me want to go measure a car. 1/4" of shims would be ridiculous. But the hinges have a lot of flex, even the originals. Either attach them as they should be, or don't use them. I've never had to shim a hood hinge, they are just too flexible, and have way too much adjustment to ever require shimming.

Yeah these new hinges don't have any flex to them they seem a lot thicker so I guess I won't use them thanks for your reply

The hinges will flex a good bit when you bolt them to the hood. I would at least try them out before you dismiss them.

i'm afraid that because the hood is fiberglass too if it flexes too much it ruins the hood besides the holes don't line up about half inch away

Fiberglass hoods have completey different springs, to prevent that exact problem.....I have a 'glass hood on my 68, and had to change the hole location to fit my car, it was different than the car it came from...But it's the springs that will cause issue with a glass hood...

I prefer steel frame hoods, which avoid so many problems.
