Hood opinion

For an everyday street driven fox do you guys think my 4 inch cowl hood is overkill. Or does the car have enough engine to justify the hood? I have been thinking that it is too much for the street. The previous owner went for the drag car look and I am trying to tone it down a bit.

also will a stock hood clear a trick flow intake?

Its over kill. But yet again if you could get some awesome wheels you may be able to pull it off. Probably cost around the same as getting a new hood.

IMO i hate 4" cowls though. Unless you have clearance issues i don't think anyone needs a cowl that big.

IMO its too big, i got a 3 inch and i think mine is a little gaudy sometimes.

I had a 4" for a while, looked good from the front but it's ugly from most other angles IMO, unless it's a drag car it isn't needed but f you like it, keep it

It makes it hard to park the car and draws alot of attention from the cops around here. I think maybe black sc wheels might help me out. If I change hoods I might go to a 95 cobra r style hood.

When you buy a cervinis hood does it take alot if prep to fit?

It doesn't make your car look bad, but IMO it is a bit too big for my taste.

I personally like my stock hood, but if I ever decide to go with a cowl, the Cervinis 1.5" is the perfect size IMO.

I'm not into hoods anymore. A stock or 1.5 cowl looks best to me. To me, nothing ruins the look of a clean car more than an excessive hood or one with too many scoops and ripples

I'm in the school of thought that big cowl hoods on cars that don't need them is "domestic rice". A cowl 2.5" or less is fine, but 4" on a car that otherwise has no engine clearance issues is IMO unnecessary and gaudy.

If your runnin a 302 based motor then yeah, the trick flow intake will clear stock hood. It is way too big what what little is under the hood. I always figured if you have a cowl hood, you got somethin that wont fit under a stock hood. Ide slap a stock or small cowl hood on and be done! You could prolly sell that hood and have enough to buy a good stock hood and pocket the rest.

Cervini hood claim to be ready for paint out of the box but they actually need to be "baked" first. Another reason I declined an aftermarket hood, I didn't trust the body shop that my insurance chose to do it correctly

if you have a spacer on the intake it might not clear the stock hood

my Boss Inc hood was much less than cervinis and was a PERFECT fit and finish.

Something you guys haven't mentioned is the heating issues with our five ohs. I would also say a cowl is good for heat dissipation if you have enough mods or a beeeeewst and want to let some heat rise.
