Cervini hood claim to be ready for paint out of the box but they actually need to be "baked" first. Another reason I declined an aftermarket hood, I didn't trust the body shop that my insurance chose to do it correctly
why did YOU let YOUR INSURANCE choose who was fixing the car?????????????? peace

long story short, i was allowed to choose where i wanted it done, but they had 2 "prefered" shops and would do a lot less investigating if i chose one of those shops = they would give a lot less money. So i chose their favorite shop, got the most money, and then kept the check and fixed the car myself
Something you guys haven't mentioned is the heating issues with our five ohs. I would also say a cowl is good for heat dissipation if you have enough mods or a beeeeewst and want to let some heat rise.
My car stayed quite a bit cooler when i had a 4" cowl. But my electric fan does a MUCH better job now than the hood ever did.
X2I love a cowl hood. Call me old fashioned.
my Boss Inc hood was much less than cervinis and was a PERFECT fit and finish.
I agree with you totally, I have had 2 Cervini's. And the one on the red/black car still fits like crap. Used a Boss Inc. on the 84 and Boss Inc.'s quality was far better. No baking with the Boss Inc. either.

I have a fluidyne and an electric and I still have heating issues when sitting at idle for any period of time.. I think its time for a 1.5 boss inc cowl to cover both grounds

I like a nice 3" cowl hood. Based on Trbofox's ics in his progress thread, I'm putting in my order for a Boss Inc 3" cowl for my 86.

your heating problem is that "darn squeaky belt"! cause it's slipping on the water pump!

i dont remember the brand fan i have but its a pretty strong little fan. I do have a bit of trouble staying cool during long idles but i RARELY sit with the car running for long periods of time. usually if temps start getting higher i can turn the fan on and it drops pretty fast.
I dont use the fan at all between October-March, i can barely get the car to warm up.
But the 1.5" is a sexy hood reguardless of function

first of all: nice lookin fox! the whole purpose of a cowl hood is to keep under-hood temperatures down. i personally think the 4" looks good on the OP's car and would run it. its a mustang, its supposed to ooze bad-ass appeal! why not be different than everyone else and not run a stock hood? if it affects your driving ability, then yes change it. if you can deal with such things as "parking the car" i wouldnt waste my time or money on changing the hood.
Thank you for the compliment the only time it gets in the way is parking. After looking at costs to get another fiberglass hood I think I will stick with the hood I have. None of the fox mustang where I live have a cowl hood.
i think its a little over kill myself. don't get me wrong it looks good but not my taste.
i have this hood on my car. it was on it when i got it. its getting a paint job this coming winter.
it is almost to tall. its kinda hard to see over. from the driver seat.
