I have a '65 coupe with a 351w in it that sticks up far above the regular hood height. Im just wondering whether i should go with a 6 in. fiberglass cowl hood or a polished aluminum air scoop and a hole in the hood. I cant make a decision but i need to do something. Cruzin' season is coming!

You didnt say how high above the hoodline. I dont see why you'd need a 6" cowl with a 351W unless you have a tunnel ram or really tall high-rise. I would expect a 2-3" cowl to work. A 6" will be kinda hard to see over. A polished scoop doesnt sound that appealing to me.

i hate scoops on mustangs.. go with the hood.. maybe even a shelby style hood with enough clearance for your setup. or a boss style added on type scoop with the air cleaner in it. just dont go with the polished stuff.... thats more suited to street rods and stuff imo

i dont know, he might need more than a 3 inch cowl. i have a modded 289 that barely clears the 3 inch cowl....so i could imagine a 351 could have problems.....i am not sure if they make a 4 or 5 inch, but 6 seems a little much......
