Dude I raced my friend's 98 manual eclipse which had a header, exhaust, cold air, and chip. I was totally stock with just a catback. I put at least 5 car lengths on him. He was definitely running nitrous. Damn you should have checked that **** out before putting money on ANY race.

Damn, I forgot about the turbonator!!! That is totally stealth. Of course those things bump the power curves throughout the entire RPM range.

hehe. now he and the mad scientist have to rip apart the block and replaced the piston rings he fried.

everything i learned i learned from "the rice and the ridiculous."

seriously, though. 'round here, a lot of people underestimate imports. a buddy of mine has a mitsu 3kgt vr4 w/ upgraded turbos. he's beat so many trans ams, cobras, vettes--these guys freak out. the power to weight ratio is something many don't consider.

but yeah, i wouldn't doubt if this guy had some n2o. like someone said, jumping 4 car lengths (2 behind, 2 ahead) means he had to have some help.

You need to throw your nitrous on for this exact scenario! JUST IN CASE button! That car definatley had nitrous. My friend and I on his wifes bone stock 98 accord v-6 hooked up a hidden wet unit-Stealthy as hell, it was hidden so well!-That car went bottom 13's at 2600 ft above sea level in the hot desert air. we made alot of money off that car! Another scenario-My frinds 97 prelude-4 cyl with hidden nitrous-13.30's all day long. Another car we made alot of money off of!

I hate the whole mindset that people have thinking imports cannot be fast. Or that our 5.0 V8s are the "king of the road". Stock for stock we have trouble keeping up with alot of the n/a 6 cyl cars out there and get beat by the turbo 4 cylinders. **** my freinds bolt on(barely) svt focus would probably beat some of your stock AODE 94-95 Gt;s. I had a Supercharged 5.0 and i've been beat by srt-4s. V8's CAN LOOSE TOO!

I like the sentiments voiced in this thread...it's refreshing, considering some of the crap that gets posted in the "5.0 Talk" forum about other types of cars.

dear god please don't sell your car for a VW or Vr-4, why not get a notchback if you like to race so much?

Often guys confuse "not liking" a particular car for "not respecting" it. You should always respect the capability of a car...especially with newer technology which is what all these new v6's and turbo'd 4 bangers have.

The 3000GT VR4 is a freakin tank! AWD= very heavy/high drivetrain losses. The reason that his is fast has nothing to do with weight.

I put half a car (0-60) on a 97 Eclipse turbo in a 99 Infiniti I30 that my wife used to drive. The Mitsu had a fartcan, and an intake too (that had to be good for 30+hp over stock). I also outran a guy I knew that had a 96 N/A auto Eclipse in the car my wife drove before the Infiniti. A 98 Honda Passport 4X4 Those cars are dogs. He definately had a turbo, or nitrous.

the power:weight ratio--i'm not referring to the vr4. what i'm talking about, for example, are 350z's w/ 300 hp, or an rsx type-s's, and comparing them, to say, an f-body.
