How can u tell what year a T5 is or what year car it came from??

Check the number on the buck tag bolted to the tailhousing.

It will have a number that goes 1352-52-XXX

The 3 digit number will tell you the year. Look it up here

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/T5ID.htm

126 = 1985
141 = 1986
169 = 1986.5-1989
194 = 1989-1990
207 = 1991
208 = 1992-1993

Those are the most common when dealing with 5.0 Mustangs. There are other numbers, so check the table

that number you are referring to started out in 92 where FORD switched from the Borg Warner T-5 to the Tremec T-5...some of the 92 will still have an old casting but will have a tag on the tailshaft with similar numbers...all you have to do is get those numbers and call Tremec to verify that infact you got their gearbox in there...

He's talking about the numbers on that tag -- he called it a "buck tag." Those tags are the same w/ Tremec and BW, so even the older trannies will have the tag with the same numbers on them. It's the last three that are the specific identifiers, as mentioned above. :nice:
