How do the GT-40 aluminum heads compare to the AFR, trickflow etc. I found a set for $699. Others are way more expensive. How much more horespower if any do the other heads make over the GT-40's

performance for price i still think TFS is the way to go. AFR's are great but a little more dough. I think it all depends on the hp and torque you want to make. as with everything else you get what you pay for.

There is a fairly recent article in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords on this topic. The article had 8 different parts and went through several heads. They did a base line comparison with the stock E7 heads. Then several other heads including the GT-40 variants. The articles were nice and long and very informative. I ended up buying the AFR 185 after reading it all.

I have these heads , if I had it to do again , I would have taken them and had the ports opened up a little more especially on the exhaust side and maybe mill them a little to bring the compression back up since they have 64cc combustion chambers .......they flow 213/int and 134/exh @.500 valve lift ....stock heads are 156/int and 116/exh ....just for comparison GT40Ps are 196/int and 139/exh........
