How Do I Clean / Repaint Hood Hinge Springs?

Just as the title says......
I had my hood hinges sandblasted, I cleaned all the grit out, primered and painted them.
Now it's time for the springs. Has anyone here ever done it? They are still in good shape, except most of the original paint is gone and there is some surface rust.
Or should I just spring ( ) for new springs? They're only 6.95 +s/h each...........(keep in mind I'm on a very limited budget right now)

Get the new springs. I know you are on a budget, but if you wait until spring to spring for new springs, they may already be sprung. So, spring into action!

I'll have to wait until next Spring before I can spring for new springs.....because if I spring for them before I am able to return to work (I should be working again before Spring!) my check will have more "spring" than the springs I am springing for, and I am sure Mr. Parts Man would not be very happy! He might then spring into action and I might have to be sprung!

Besides, I also need coil springs, e-brake spring and leaf springs to name a few.......so I'll probably just order them all at once as a Spring spring order!

I don't see any reason you can't sandblast them but I wonder how well paint would stick with the constant stretching and contracting.Notice I didn't use the s word once.

The originals look like they had some kind of coating on them....

Blast 'em & paint 'em. I've never had a problem with cast blast or semi-gloss black cracking or flaking off hood springs.

One suggestion: stretch them a bit and put a rod or something inside to hold them that way before blasting and painting so you get in all the nooks & crannies.

I am thinking about using these guys to finish mine. My hinges were sandblasted and then painted with castblast by the resto shop that did the paintwork on my car. Looked nice at first but at points where there is a rubbing contact as the hood closes, paint has been rubbed away. There is also some wobble side to side at the rivets.

Nice idea, except I am on an EXTREMELY limited budget, as I have not been able to work since last June, and SSDI doesn't cover the rent, much less parts or resto services for my 'stang!

I have a friend who can sandblast stuff for me at work [voice over]"freebie"[voice over] and I have a number of rattle cans of primer and chassis black that I am using up.................
