how do i convert my turbo coupe rearend to 5-lug...

i got a really good deal on some kewb rims, so im converting to 5 lug. now i already have my brakes upgraded to all aero spec up front, so all i need to do is to go 80's ranger up front right. now what about the rear. the kid before me swapped in a turbo-coupe rearend so i don't know what axle shafts to switch over to for the conversion, and i'd like to keep the rear in there for now.

anyways, i'd appreciate any help on the subject. thanks guys,

Use the 94-95 axles as mentioned above. Use 1990 Mazada MPV 3.0 V6 front rotors (10", 5 lugx 4.5" pattern, 2 7/16" offset ). While you are at the auto parts store, set a TC rear rotor side by side with the Mazada rotor and they are the same except for the offset.

The next step fixes the offset problem:
Use a Maximum MotorSports 1/8 spacer (MMWS6, http://www.maximummotorsports.com/i...roduct_info&manufacturers_id=&products_id=576 ) between the inside of the rotor and the axle flange. The spacers may need to have the OD machined to fit properly. The stock rotor offset is 2 5/16" and the Mazada rotors are 2 7/16" offset. The 1/8" spacer puts the rotor back dead center alignment with the calipers.

The TC rotrors are .945 thick, 10 5/32" diameter, 2 5/16" offset & vented.

The 94-95 rotors are .504 thick, 10.5" diameter, 1. 975 offset & solid. This came from the NAPA online parts catalog.

The bottom line is that the 94-95 rotors won't play with the TC calipers. I don't know if the TC caliper mounts are the same as the 94-95 caliper mounts.
 
If my above part doesn't meet your specs, I have an Excel spreadsheet that lists all the Raybestos brake rotors stocked by Rock Auto.They are a big online auto parts company with just about everything. The speadsheet is sorted by number of lugs and then rotor size. Put the part number in Rock Auto's online catalog and you get a picture of the rotor & the specs. OK, but what calipers and caliper brackets are you using? The TC calipers and brackets with modifications, or the SN95 calipers and brackets that match your rotors and axles?

That's a new one on me! Where did you find out about this?

This needs to be added to SN95brakes.com if it is a proven method

I hate to exhume old threads, but has anyone else done this? I was wondering if this set up would work with the North Racecars brackets also?

My friend has a TC rear w/355's in his garage, but I want 5 lugs, and this beats having to machine rotors with 9 holes all the time. I knew there had to be some car with 5 lug front rotors like TC vented rear rotors, but I would have never guessed wich one.
 
This company sells a TC rotor that is drilled for 4 & 5 lug, but I'm not sure what axles one would use as I thought the hub and flange were a larger diameter on the SN95 axles - http://www.breezeautomotive.com/details.php?prod_id=353&cat_id=1

^ I think you would have to use the ranger/aerostar 5 lug axles with those on a Mustang. Or they bored out the flange hole on the rotor for sn95 axles for use on a actual TC.

So if I wanted fox length axles with a TC rear I'd be stuck with the 9 hole rotor?:shrug:

I guess the sn95 axle/MVP rotors would work perfectly with a Cougar.
