I got a 94 roller motor and the guy said that who he got it from said the crank was broke. I put it on the engine stand and began tearing it down and the harmonic balance is broke off. The crank bolt and the sleeve of the HB is still on the crank. I have to get the impact out tonight to get the bolt out but how will i get whats left of the HB off with nothing to use a puller on. These have to be pulled off with a HB puller, right? Also when i try to turn the crank it wobbles inside the block and stops, so do you think the block will be any good? I'm going to try and finish taking it apart tonight but I need to get the crank bolt and whats left of the HB off the remove the timing cover.
Thanks

If there is anything left of the flange of the harmonic balancer, use a bearing splitter and a Harmonic balancer puller combined.

Bearing splitter - it fits behind any part of the flange that may still be intact.

Harmonic balancer pulller - it uses bolts to connect to the bearing splitter.

I've had decent succes taking two small pry bars, and coming in from opposite sides and prying angainst the block to pop an entire balancer off. Without seeing what you have left, it's kind of hard to make a reccomendation. I think jrichker's idea is going to be your best bet.

I was in luck, after some close inspection i could see that the collar lft on was cracked. I popped the crank bolt loose, removed it and the HB or what was left of it slipped right off. The bad news, found a broke crank at the second journal. I did not get a chance to pull the rods and pistons yet but one has the skirt beat off by the crank or flying pieces. The timing chain now does not want to come off now any suggestions?
