How do you all fight the temptation?

It seems like every weekend when I have too much time on my hands, I end up thinking about selling my car and buying something newer/nicer.

I just don't know if I could sell my car knowing how much money/time has been going into it. Also knowing that I won't get much back out of it.

I have to keep telling myself cheap insurance/no car payments is why.. but I still fight the urge to pick up a used C5 or many other performance cars...

I'm sure this isn't a problem for most of you because your stang is prolly a weekend car.

well.... maybe you should just look at mods for your stang to ease your mind. judging by your sig you would prolly take a good hit if you try to sell it. so i would focus on making the stang better instead.

just my .02

Oh believe me, I've spent anywhere from 500-2000$ every month on mods since I've owned the car.

I've only owned it 4 months, so it's not really that much into it yet..

Just ordered a kaenan s281 spoiler and xpipe without cats.. damn cats.

for me it's really easy. i have had absolutely no time or money for anything the last 6 months and the cars are just sitting

even without putting anything into either car, i still have about $1000 more going out every month than coming in. so i am pretty much exclusively driving my mother in law's camry that we bought from them. i even returned the tags for the fairlane so i don't have to pay insurance on it anymore.

You should have gotten a vert then you wouldn't have too worry:D.
Its fun too cruise with the top down, my car is a daily driver And since gas is dropping in price I am driving alot more.:nice::nice:

Sorry for your disease but there is No cure! :nonono:

Um, what temptation? I love my Stang, and I don't want to drive anything else. The only way I would sell my Stang is to buy a different one. And my Stang is my DD, the gas prices are still well worth it.

Yeah, I guess it's just my disease?

I'm only 19 and been through... 7 cars... sigh

BTW: Same trend with each one. Buy it completely stock, mod it, then sell it.

I seem to break even though or make money. I don't think it's going to be that way with this car.

I wish I would have had a vortech supercharged 5.0 when I was 19. My old fox from high school had a stock 306, and I thought it was bad ass! Keep your car, just keep modding it to your liking. Hell, you arent even home to drive it are you? If not, wait until you get behind the wheel again, maybe that will help keep you on track.

Yes ... My little GT is a weekend toy
and
I have absolutely no temptations to get something newer :)

I love SBF's

I can wrench and tune my 95 with ease :spot:

My 95 is paid for :nice:

I could go on and on ;)

I find no intrest in a newer Stang :nono:

You know they ALL have those dad burn mod moters in em :( :notnice:

No thanks ... I'll just keep Ole Red :D

He makes me happy every time I get him out for a little spin :Word:

+1. Plus if you want another car and have been spending that much on mods amonth, just save instead of modding and get whatever you want. That is what i have been doing. Saving to find the right '03-'04 Termi. My car has no mods, but it is paid for and has everything that came with the car from factory. Manuals and all. I'm not selling my car will be worth alot in a few years. Oh and im giving it to my daughter when she gets to 16. For 4 years old she is a mustang nut like her daddy.:nice:

As youi get older and you see the cars your friends and co-workers end up driving......you'll appreciate the stang more and more. All of my friends have SUVs, minivans, or some type of large sedan. Granted, I do have a Grand Cherokee, but that's for my wife.

Anytime I take the stang to work or to a friends house, there is always some extra conversations about how they wished they had held on to whatever car made them happy back in the day.

I'm not old by a long shot, but time will solve your issue for sure. Saw too many people with regret about selling their stangs, vettes, and whatnot.

toy here. It helps to walk away from time to time to not get burned out. That is one reason I think I am SOOOOO slow with getting things done to the mustang. I plan on keeping it for a long time...although I would only get rid of it for another toy like an old hot rod project and I do not see anyone beating down my door for that trade.

Looking back most people regret getting rid of one car or another. To me that would be the mustang...so I do not plan on getting rid of it.

don't feel bad. I'm 18 and have been through 25+ cars. Ive been back and forth between selling my 95 or not, however i decided a couple weeks ago to keep it. Driving it has just changed my mind completely. Its so much fun to drive it would be hard to get rid of.

What?? So since you've had a license, you've gone through a car per month?

I've had the stang for 9 years at this point. But all I drive now is the Bronco since the stang has been down. I plan to keep the stang until 200 or 300k miles at least so I will have have it for another 20 years once I get it running again. Unless I get some mad cash and replace it with a brand new better car.

I just think that half the fun is modding my car. Its easy to do on my own, and IMO the newer cars I would love to have would be much harder to mod. Plus, it is going to be fun years from now when my old stang can walk all over the newer nicer cars. It is just a matter of time, and a couple more raises here at work!

Right now I say it is because I have 3 mortgages (mortgage, daycare, and gas)... But when I have the $$ I still love my 94. Now there are a bunch of little things that I want to do something about now that it is getting older (lots of squeaks and rattles, etc)... But I am still planning to drive this car for another 4 years... :D

Forgot to mention. When we trade in the wife's car in '10 or '11 she is getting a mustang GT auto. Wifes' exact words..."why would I get a v6...if I am paying I want the v8" lucky me. So we will probably have a new one to sit next to the 94 in the garage in a few years.

I am getting rid of my DD before we get rid of her car and getting a fusion so we will have a 4 door sedan so we can still have a baby-friendly car and she can have a mustang she has always wanted.
