The kit is a factory five. I added a lot of aftermarket parts tomake the car what it is. You just cant get away with using donor parts off an 87-93 and expect the car to look great. I ended up using an 88 rear which i powdercoated and converted to disc brakes with 3.73 gears. My trans is a tremec TKO600. The engine is a 95 302 bored .03 over with AFR heads, crane cam, scorpion roller rockers, custom lenght pushrods, and www.qualityroadsters.com fuel injection kit. I used the wiring out of my 88 donor which i ended up sending off to www.wirediet.com and paid 600.00 to have it stripped of unwanted wires and converted from speed density to mass air. I am still working on hooking up the optional classic autometer gauges. Overall the build isnt that bad, but the wiring will kill you. That and the fastners. Factory five does not send the correct fastners for half the parts so you will end up haggling with them on the phone and spending a lot of time at the local hardware stores. Some of the hardware they sent for the suspension was down right dangerous. However, they were willing to set things right and whenever icalled they always did. A couple notes of advice. Join www.ffcobra.com Those guys are the reason i actually finished the build. Without the forum i would have had a much tougher time and i am not sure i would have ever finished the car. Also, do not try to email factory five. bacuase they will not respond. Always call them on the phone.
Other than that it is a great kit for the money. If i had the cash though, i would definately buy an Superformance. FFR has the best frame, but the body is rough and needs a lot of work for correct fitment of the doors hood and trunk.

It looks very good, I'm installing the MassFlo kit on my stroker right now. Chris is a great guy to deal with, and the quality of parts provided are top notch.

I have been working hard on hiding the wires under the hood of my car. I want to keep the vintage look as much as possible and having a wire loom the size of this one draped all over the place wasn't what I want to see. I split the large loom into several smaller ones, I have 6 holes for wires, none of these have a grommet with a hole larger than 1/2 ". I was able to mount the air sensor converter box inside the car since the engine is so close to the firewall.

I also painted that red distributer cap black, again trying to keep everything low key. I have a few photos on page 7 of my CarDomain page. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/597572

66HertzClone: I like your build...but am curious about changing out the Demon. I certainly realize that efi will give better mileage and a bit better drivability, but at this point in your build, is there really the cost:benefit to make it worthwhile? Or [if I can ask without stepping on your toes] might there be a little bit of "can't leave well enough alone"?

As for the Gear Vendors, that is the PERFECT addition to your C4. They are superb additions to old cars and you will love it. That CLEARLY has the cost:benefit to satisfy me!!!

Also: really glad you left the vents in the back. It seems that everyone is putting in the windows, but the vents are so cool...and they are functional.

Congrats on the great job and nice car site.

You hit the nail on the head, I can't leave well enough alone. For me the fun of this car is the research, selection, and finally the installation of the parts. Driving the car is secondary to the work process, it has become my relelase from the grind of work.

After driving the car last summer I found that I kept looking for that extra gear once I was cruising on the highway. Installing an AOD would have fixed that, but it was not without its own complications. My stroker with the carb produced 430 # torque so an AOD would need to be specially built to handle that power and be reliable. Add to this the addtional cost of new headers since the TriYs on the car will not work with the AOD. By the time one added up the cost of all the required parts, the GV unit cost less.

I spent a lot of time trying to decide if I wanted the windows or the vents. In the end it was the look of the vents that made me keep them. Those I think are the best styling feature of the 65-66 fastbacks. When you look closely at how well those plastic window kits fit and look long term, the vents were the way to go for me.

I finally have recieved my Vintage series 50 wheels, I have been waiting for these since February of 2005. When I put them on the car this spring they will finish the car off nicely. I will probably use 225/50 in the front and 245/50 in the rear.

Thanks for your compliments, I did not intend to hijaack this thread I only wanted to share my installation with someone else who is doing one.

Of course, now you are going to need more brakes!!! BTW, you have pieced-together a nice suspension package. That is the real point of obsessing for me. My 'vert has the R&C Motorsports MII-style conversion, but want a bit different characteristics for my 2+2. OTOH, the MII-style makes ANY engine possible.

Keep us posted!

And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

The Valve covers and the oval air cleaner i purchased from Summit Racing. The valve covers fit fine-i had to drill and put the PVC valve in myself and make my own splash shield for it, but no biggy really. The valve covers are made for 87-95 302 efi motors.
