How do you recalibrate an OEM MAF???

I just picked up a set of 42 lbs. injectors and I need to reclaibrate my MAF sensor to run with these new injectors.

What do I need to do?

I'm going to remove the OEM splitter bar on the inside and I think that makes it an 80MM. Saw the mod on some site. But what do I do the recalibrate the damn thing?

There really is no way to recalibrate a factory maf. You can buy this thing called an air adjuster (I have one), but it didn't work too well for me. The guy I bought it from was using it on a 19lb maf with his 42lph injectors. Worked for him, just not for me.

Oh, and removing that post does not make the inside diameter any bigger.

Oh, and what are you putting those 42's on? I hope not the one in your sig. You need a LOT more mods to require 42's.

How to recalibrate stock MAF. Pick up phone or computer, contact Pro-M ask for new MAF calibrated for 42 lb injectors. If you run those on your current setup, well if it runs, it wont be good.

You can do this with a chip, but if your engine demands are such that you NEED the higher fuel flow of 42's, then you will definately peg the MAF. So you need a new MAF anyway. I'd suggest a 90mm LMAF with a chip.

Bottom line is ..... you'll need a new MAF. I don't know about the 42 lb. injectors, though.

If you cut that post out ..... be really careful. I did that to a MAF in a Ranger. I regret it. It opened up airflow but eventually hurt the idle characteristics. Overall ... I'd reccommend not doing it ..... afterall, it WILL NOT give you a "larger" MAF anyway.

WOW all those comments are a lil too crazy.
First off he cant pick up the phone and call Pro-M cbecause they are not in business anymore. Granatelli bought them out and he could not get a Stock MAF recalibrated cause those thigns are useless after a few mods anyway. Your best bet is to hold on to those 42's for a while cause you dont have enough mods to use them unless you run some crazy low fuel pressure. As a matter of fact unless you got a blower, turbo, or a good size NA motor those 42's wont do you anygood.

The OEM stock maf is not the power robbing villian you seem to make it out to be.

I looked at your sig and I'd be willing to bet that ProM 80 is giving a gain of 5 to 10 rwhp and most likely ...... its closer to the 5 figure.

As your combo improves and moves more air then the efficiency of the larger maf will go up for sure.

I heard the same story from one of the investors in a post he made on the Tweecer site a good while back.

I know ProM is out of business but considering it is the same bunch of peeps, I still have the first thought of ...... the maf is still of the same quality.

I've seen several peeps get a maf from http://www.massairsystems.com/ and have not seen them say anything on the various forums about a bad experience or product since the change in mgmt.

Grady no dissrespect the 80MM is not on the car and will not till it can serve it purpose after the H/C/I and the power pipe isnt on either. You must understand that an almost stock car does not need 42lb. injectors,... come on Grady?

Grady, they are indeed back in business under management of old employees. I had my 80mm recaled by them a few months back.

Chris, I don't think Grady was saying the guy needed the 42's, more that he really won't need a bigger maf OR the injectors on his mostly stock motor.

hey thanks guys, right now I'm collecting parts for my TT build, just ordered a 255lbs fuel pump also.. Hopefully i will be able to do a H/C/I mod also before the final project hits the streets. But if not I will at least be able to do the C/I at the very least...

I couldnt pass up the injectors, they were basically given to me by a member of my club.. maybe i will just pick up a 90MM Lightning MAF that is already set up for 42's

It is NOT set up for 42# injectors - you need a chip for that. Ford does things the correct way and does not calibrate MAFs to injector size.

Thanks Don, then a chip it will be.. But I'm going to have to leave them out until I get the car to the shop for the final tune or can I put them in and limp the car there?

I just spoke to a tech at the Ford racing hot line yesterday. He told me Pro M is still in business, just under a different name. He gave me a phone # of 517-327-3900. You might try that numer and see what happens.

Seem to me that is the number for the folks who took over Pro M. Good info though!
