i see alot of threads on here about guys trying to break out of the 14s and then look at their mod list and im like wtf. so what does it take to get a 5.0 into the low 13s high 12s. it cant be that hard, i got my gtp into the mid 13s with headers, ported blower, 11 psi, 1.84 rockers, tune and some other small stuff.

I went a different route then the stock motor, gears tires and a few bolt ons. I had better valves tossed into the heads, a Cobra intkae, bolt ons and beat the crap out of the car going down the track. Rewarded me with mid 12s on a tire and a 12.99 on 17" street radials!

h/c/i full exhaust, gears and the required boltons along with a good hooking tire is easy high 12s. I bet a bolt on stock motor'd fox would come damn near 12s with a dialed in suspension, slicks, and gears.

More accurately about 13.16 at 103.5. lmao. But Ive got a cam too! I personally think that its actually alot easier said than done. It takes alot of time and practice to really be able to get the most out of your car. I learned this and I am slowly cutting my times down and hopefully soon I will have that elusive 12 second slip.

I had a 00 daytona pacecar gtp a few years ago. had a 3.4 pully and a cai it went a 13.7 with a 1.99 60ft on the stock rsa's. The thing bone stock when i got it. It had 19k on it. it went a 14.3. Must have been a factory freak thats for sure. Now my notch with 355 and exhaust my best time so far is a 13.57 with a 1.94 60ft on street tire's. I think it still has a little left in it to say a 13.3.

Hmm I went 13.0 @ 103 with Cobra intake, 65mm TB, CAI, Pulleys, LTs, Midpipe, catback, 3.73s, clutch, shifter and on ET Streets! Ive seen stock long blocks go 12.7s and have heard of guys going into the 12.5s and 12.4s with race prepped chassis'd cars!

A HCI geared car with a tire better be deep 12s or better. If not your wasting your money (In my eyes :D)

How fast should my setup be?
Stock 302 block, AFR 165 heads, FTI custom cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, 4.10 gears, M/T drag radials, B&M shift kit, 2800-3000 stall converter, offroad X pipe, shorty headers, rear control arms and a few other bolt ons.

Not all that stuff is installed yet but thats what Im going with.

GT40P heads, X303 or similar cam, Explorer intake or better (if going EFI, Performer RPM or better if carbed), 3.73/4.10, slicks and a 5 speed. Drive it like you stole it, you'll get mid 12s all day if you can make it hook.

These threads always make me feel like a douche, like I should already be close to 13's ... and yet I haven't seen quicker than a 15.0 @ 98 MPH in this turd o' mine. Traction, I know ... traction is the key... *le sigh* :(

Yeah traction, especially if you're running 15s and still trapping 98mph. That's low 14s with ease.
