How fast is my car?

Please tell me. I don't have time to go to the track and people keep asking.

It has 3.90 gears
18x10 Saleen rims with Nitto 555's
and puts down 300 HP / 340 lbs of torque at the rear wheels.

High 12 / Low 13's?

Question - How come it is only putting down 300rwhp? That is very low for a KB 4.6 to lay down.

300rwhp is more than enough to propel into the 12's. If you are able to launch well and you are a good driver I'd say consistent upper 12's, with a possible mid 12. I would say those times would need to be done on drag radials, though. I'd say low 13's for street tires.

With only 300hp.... I'd say bone stock with a non pullied blower (no heat exchanger) on a safe emissions legal tune.

12.80s at 106 or so I'd guess. Depends on how much suspension and if you have the tires to do it. 300hp isn't anything to laugh at in these cars.

If I spent money on a KB it better be 380-400rwhp I almost make 300 on cams and stock headers.

This was my first blower. I didn't want to break anything. I thought that 70 HP would be a huge improvement. I was wrong, especially after installing those Saleen wheels. They are so heavy, it's like they cost the car all that gain. So I got the gears and the car feels nice.

I'll prolly upgrade to 9PSI w/ IC down the road. I drove a 550 HP Mustang several times and I know that 300 is weak. I thought that 550, while fun, is not very practical. You have to be extremely gentle or rubber will burn... all the time, on the street, on the freeway, in your sleep :D

I don't like the 'what would I run' threads. Sure, maybe in perfect conditions, with excellent driving, you could run a high 12, but what about the real world, with yourself behind the wheel? It takes a LOT of practice and experience to wring the most from a car, and even on the street you can't get that kind of experience. Everytime I go to the track, I see people with nice combinations running terrible times. Blown mustangs running 14s, GT500s running mid-low 13s ect ect. It just depends so much on your driving ability and the traction of the car.

So sure, tell your buddies your car can run high 12s, but when you get spanked by mid 13s car just because they can drive well, don't cry about it. Go to the track and find out for REAL what your car runs. You'll have a blast. And if you go and only run a 14-something, that's fine too. My first pass at the track was a mid/high 19 @ 65mph, in an 88 hp 4cyl mustang.

you can't tell anybody that your car runs a certain time, because you have not run it. It's called bench racing.

You could say something like, "I hope it would run low 13's at around 107-108mph but have no idea because I have never ran it"

So your only running what, 6 psi or so? If so on an otherwise stock car, I'd say your right on par with an emissions legal safe tune.

Yes, it's 6PSI, but it's not the emissions that are keeping this car down. It's the lack of IC, the high compression, and the ****ty gas they sell in CA. It is amazing that an '04 Cobra with 15 PSI of boost makes close to 600 RWHP without a hint of detonation. Maybe I should get an intercooler.

^ that's what I'd say

It's a lot harder to run fast times for your combo than most people think. Whatever your car is *theoretically* capable of is irrelevant on a hot humid day against a headwind. A drag strip is sobering reality for many people.
