No need. The paper filter flows as good as a K&N, with none of the oil issues. Bamachips tested that, too.

I have argued in the past that CAI's are worthless, I now have more track data to back that claim up. I have 2 91 Octane race tunes from Doug at Bamachips, one is for a JLT CAI, the other is for the stock airbox. Sunday, 3 May 09, I made 6 passes, 3 with the stock air box, 3 with the JLT CAI. Best time and MPH was on the same pass, which happened to be with the stock air box. After DA correcting all 6 passes and averaging them out for each airbox setup. MPH with the stock airbox was slightly higher and E.T. was slightly lower than the JLT CAI which has been considered to be the best HP producing CAI. Personally, I wouldn't run a CAI unless you like the looks of it.

Yeah but you only have to buy a K&N once.

K&N doesn't sell an exact fit for that intake. The connection between the filter and tube is unique and available from Ford only. Remove the filter and look at the opening and you will see what I mean. K&N will try and sell you something but you're on your own trying to get it to fit. It won't.

I have the Granatelli as well, but have been having major problems with their reprogrammed MAF (throws codes, goes into limp mode). I am considering going with a Brenspeed tune and using the stock MAF. Is it worth it in your opinion?

+1, I got the same upgrade as you did because the CAI just didn't do it for me.

What is everybody's opinion on this post?

As a new guy with a stock GT I really want to know the best route for N/A horsepower gains and this kind of information is what I'm looking for. I realize that on top of the gains some claim, the CAI also changes the way the car sounds. I am 100% happy with how my car sounds as it is so if this is something I can avoid and just get the tune from Bamachips for that gain then I would be a happy no0b.

Let me know what you think!
