How many here have raced and beaten a ZO6 vette?

ive noticed that most of the people who have posted that they doged or kept up with the zo6 had modded out stangs except for the one who admitted the vette missed a gear, were the z's modded or stock, a supercharged zo6 can easily make 600 rwhp, jucied even more and turboed.........fugetaboutit!!...the next response may be ill put a 409 or a 427, buy that reasoning it would be safe to say a vette owner can throw in a 506, any way just my .02 the down fall however of the zo6 is that the aluminum block can and will split mid eight to nine hudreds, an iron block however can handle 1250 easily

I really do respect the new z06's. They are an extremely quick car from the factory. Most are running mid to high 11's at over 122mph that I've seen or read about. And of course some are in the 10's with just a couple bolt-on's. I just can't see paying over 70 grand for a car that I'm going to race and take a chance of crashing on a daily basis.

My coupe can outrun most of the new Z06's with relative ease until they start adding nitrous or superchargers. Then my 10.50 car will get outran by a car with over 80 grand in it. I will still be happy knowing that I have a budget car with under 15 grand in it that runs 10.50's at over 130mph. My car runs consistent 6.70's @102mph and 10.50's @ 132mph on pump gas leaving off the footbrake at 1,800rpm's. So at the moment I'm extremely happy with my little fox body.

But if I had tons of money to blow then I probably would own a new Z06 as well as a kenne bell blown 03-04 cobra. But what's the point of wishful thinking....LOL
I have a house and a wife and soon a family to support. I'm content with my street car for now.

When I think of ZO6's drag racing is the last thing that comes to mind. Those babies are made for the corners. I can't wait for the new SS or Blue Devil or whatever it's called to come out. 650 hp and 650 lbft torque is what I've heard. I see the test cars driving around here at the Milford proving grounds all the time. I can't wait to see the finished product. They have some nifty things coming out on them Speaking of which are you guys watching the 24 hours Le Mans race this weekend. I
can't wait to see the Z06 and S7 duke it out.

Not with there stock compression, that would be pushing it, and you would have to have one heck of a tune

I had my A$$ handed to me by a 2003 Z06.... but later found out he was making 800whp with novi 2000 so i didn't feel that bad...lol

I stomped a Yellow 405HP Z06 at Milan Dragway back in September 2004. That was fun! I have also stomped a C6 in August 2006. I have never raced a C6 Z06. I know I would get smoked so, why bother. But, when I get meth, 14lbs of boost and make 530+RWHP....look ouuuuttt!!!

Well, you know the older guys buy the expensive vettes because they dont want to touch their engines, they want factory fast. I can understand. But most mustang guys like the inexpensive cars and we just mod them to beat the 60k plus cars. It's the same thing with a gt500. If one of us takes their 92 lx and beats one, there is that satisfaction that they used their skill and knowledge...and money.. to beat a guy with money.
BTW, I raced a trailblazer SS form a 30 mph roll. I have a stock 93 notch with 3.73's, when he stepped on it, it took one car link, but his front end raised up impressively and shot off. Thats a heavy truck, and it is no joke.

True, it does feel good to beat the big dollar cars, but my Dad has a GT500 and I don't care if I beat him buy 20 car lengths with my Cobra, I would drop my Cobra in a HEARTBEAT for a stock GT500, any color, coupe or convertible. That thing is fast, and handles like a dream. The only thing I DO NOT like is the attention. That cars gets it WAY TOO MUCH!! We are gonna race soon, and I know I will beat him because I drive a little harder.

As for the SSTB. They are pretty quick, and if you were almost window to window with it, I'm impressed. My notch could not do that. I did stomp one with my L the other night!!! He didn't like that at all!!

I think my 3k lb car was a little quicker to get going, and I was in a great rpm range to start. But that thing goes when it gets steam going!
Ill change that when I get my hellion kit!
As far as the zo's, that 427 is awesome. Chevy has really perfected the pushrod small block. Makes me wonder what Ford could have done with an ongoing 5.8 program. If Ford would have started putting stock aluminum heads on its small block like Chevy did, it may have been adifferent ball game.
