I just bought some Castrol GTX high mileage 10w30 the other day, my car recently had a motor swap when i bought it and he told me the motor he put in it had 80xxx thousand miles. This should be an ok oil right?
when did the bullett come out? i forget. it was 01 right?
anyway, i think everything changed with the bullett. the tranny and the oil.
i have a 2002 gt also that i think takes 5 qts. i use that much at least. i think that even though its an 02, it is an early production that was built in 01. i bought the car in jan. of 02 so i know it was made in 01.
i think the early 02 gt's that are 01 production took 5 qts. also, where the later 02's took 6.
i really dont know for sure, but it seems like many 02 guys use 5 qts.
btw, when i last changed the oil, i called 3 ford dealerships and askes. i got 6, 5, and 6......they dont know what they are talking about!
i just dont get it. the manual also says 5. i mean if these dipsticks are marked wrong even if it does look good with however many qts. of oil it could still be wrong. theres no telling who got good dipsticks and who got wrongly marked ones.
i figure if you stay between 5-6 you should be ok because thats what the mustangs always have been one or the other.
i put in 6 once and according to the stick it was way over filled. so i took some out. i think ill start doing 5 1/2.
