Can anybody speak from experience and tell me how much boost my 331/paxton novi 2000 combo will make? Even guesses are welcome. I've come to the conclusion my extra cubes and airflow will make less boost than the advertised 8-10 psi. Here's the combo:

331 with 9.4:1 compression (don't ask how, just trust me here on the comp.)
cobra upper and lower intakes (stock, but lower will be ported)
AFR 185 heads

I assume that 8-10 psi is based on a stock 95 302. I like the idea of less boost, as I'm still on a two bolt block. The block and rotating assembly are well prepared to push the limits of said block, so I'd like to get to about 500 crankshaft hp for now, until I get a 4 bolt block and pulley it up to 91 octane limits. I don't have any hp numbers for the combo as is, but the blower's going on in a few weeks when everything's completely ready. It'll be going straight to Dallas Mustang soon thereafter for a good tune. I'm not sure if the pulley that came with it will get me to 500hp if the boost falls off dramatically.

other questions:
It came with no charge cooling system, will I be missing hp, safety, or both?
Does anybodyy have any experience with the methanol kits?
Are they as good as advertised?
Do I really need charge cooling at boost levels from 5-10 if I don't want to make more than 500hp?

Dude, the novi won't ever make full boost ever. it is a centrifugal supercharger and the boost will keep rising and rising as the rpms rise. as for how much boost you run, i can only make a guess...6-7 at 6000rpms. everybodys combo is different and they all run different boost. My friends 347 made 561 at the wheels with 12# at 6200. He was running ported 185 though. All i can say is keep your timing very low at first and make sure your fuel system is up to par.

I could be wrong, but I have to differ. The novi 2000 is advertised as being capable of supporting 980hp worth of cfm and 27psi. It's gotta make that boost sometime......regardless of pulley. it's got a pressure relief for a reason, and it can't be just shifts. I don't expect it to make insane boost when I go WOT from idle, but I fully expect 6-7 psi on my 331 before redline. I just want to know when. But if there's one thing that isn't the greatest about centrifiguls, it's that. I did pay 2,500 bucks for the full polished kit, so that's why I changed my mind about centrifiguls.

What kinda blower did your buddy have?

when i ment the boost will keep rising, i ment it will keep rising to an extent. It isn't controlled by a wastegate like a turbo, or like a positive displacement blower that peaks at lower rpms.
The bypass valve won't open under too much pressure if you are using the one that came with the kit(to a certain extent). i am running a d1sc on my 347, havent taken it to the dyno yet still deciding if i am getting a tweecer/wideband for street tune, or get a custom tune. let us know what yours does. thanks

sorry, didn't read the post right........my buddy was also running the 2000
He changed combos recently to a 393 carb setup. the reason i am mentioning this is because he is still running the same pulley setup(spinning the supercharger the same speed) and making about 8-9pounds. but making within 10hp as his last combo.

was he happy with the novi 2000 kit? Did it take until redline to make full boost?

I peaked 12psi at my shift point (MSD had 6000 rpm pill in at the time). Had a 2.95 pulley on it (stock one was a 3.33, 7-9psi). You should hit your 6-7psi goal before redline. These type blowers are RPM based since driven off of the belt. Turbo just about makes full boost as the pedal hits the floor. Loved that about the Grand National I had.

Walker, check with my buddy Mike and his combo. I think he'd be able to answer all your questions as he went from a 500rwhp 302 with a Novi 2000 to a 615rwhp 347 dart block with the novi recently. He's a good guy and will probably get back to you in no time and he has a lot of dyno and track info from his buildup as well.

you will make less boost but more power with less boost is a good thing then you can alway change pulleys and make more later on.

doubts

I'm not much of a "pulley changer". I live so far away from my tuner, I won't mess with it to much (after the tune) when it's making obscene power levels. I play alot with stuff now, but you gotta remember I'm on a 2 bolt block, and don't want the consequences until I'm fully ready for them.

Maybe I SHOULD get another pulley before I take it down for the tune. I'm fairly confident it'll last awhile under 500 flywheel hp. It's well prepped, has the DSS main support system, and all forged internals, so we'll see.

i have been making over 500 flhp for 3 years with only one blown head gasket and that was due to a loose distributer. so with all the new parts in your combo you should be ok with the power you are looking for.

I started to see boost at 3,000 RPMS, as far as full boost you wont max it out unless your pushing over 20 PSI. I had the Novi 2000 on my 302 w/ a Power pipe and I saw 10-12 PSI w/ that.
