So then every car is a limited production car. Since every car is limited to the amount the factory can build? I think you have limited production mixed up. Sure demand has exceeded supply. But that does not mean that Ford is not going to build any more. If that were so. then they would not have added overtime. To push the number up to 192k units. You really are a car salesman.

No kidding, Einstein. By your definition, every car on the road is limited production, as no manufacturer has infiinite capacity.

The 2005 Mustang is in no way, shape, or form a limited production vehicle. The demand for GTs is currently higher than production, but this will end shortly.

You're the only person I've ever heard of that would consider a production of 200,000 cars a year to be "limited production".

Geezz you guys. Go to a lot and ask to see the selection of 05 GTs. Then you'll know what "limited" is.

If there are 10 but 20 people WANT them, then they're limited. If there are 50,000, but 100,000 people want them, then they're limited.

They're limited by legal restrictions on emissions, by engine parts shared with the F150, by IUP parts availability... all kinds of things.

Is your argument that they are NOT limited? That seems patently stupid based on the fact that dealers are charging and getting MSRP+ for them.

I guess we could argue the definition of limited all day long. I just state fact.

You are right that there are limitations on them. However they are limited availability not limited production. It's not like Ford has said 05 is the last year of mustang. Or that IUP will not be available next year. So just like the potatoe chip commercial. Go ahead enjoy. They'll make more.

And if you read this forum. There are people getting x-plan and under MSRP. So the people that are paying over MSRP are limited as well.

Polkthug-there is a very convenient online application for Cap One. I originally got approved for 60 mo @ 5.25%, but then I went back and applied thru Costco who has a co-branding deal w/ Cap One and it came back @ 4.80%.

Hey Yellow-embrace your inner car salesman-it's ok. I'm a stock broker-we've got our share of a-holes in my business too. You just look that much better by comparison when they realize that you're honest and ethical.

Maybe because Ford knows they will sell about 1 million F150s in a year?

Ford knows roughly how many Mustangs they can sell in a year (they've got 40 years of historical sales figures to work with), and plans accordingly. They'd be stupid to build 1 million Mustangs a year because they'd have 800,000 of them laying around at the end of the year, or they'd have to sell them for $12,000 to get rid of them all.

Demand will soon die down on the new Mustang and Ford will be back to selling 125-150,000 of them a year. It's only the GT that's in short supply right now, every dealer in town has boatloads of V6 models sitting around.

Never tell them what you want your payments to be. Complete your due dilligence first.

1. Shop around
2. Try and get pre-approved before going in so you know how much you can afford (preferably a credit union, they have the lowest interest rates)
3. The car price is negotiable
4. Bottom line is if the price is right and your down payment is right, your monthly payments will be what you are comfortable with.
5. Be firm when going in, there job is to make as much as they can on you, your job is to pay as little as possible but still be fair
