about $500 to get a good running 87-88 tbird tc

and

about $2000 for a shop to rip you a new one with the labor quote to do all of the swap work.

Time to learn to turn your own wrench

Yeah it would probably cost more than the car is worth just to have a shop do the swap. You are in Florida maybe there are some members here or on turboford that would do it with you for a fraction of what it would cost for a shop to do it. It is something to look into at least.

Shop rates are expensive. I'm sure you can find somebody else to help you with the swap.

i got my motor for 100 bucks did all the work myself and spent maybe another 100 on fluids and a rad hose and a k&n filter

look around for any wrecked turbo coupes , also try asking around on mustang chat rooms.....

the swap wasnt very hard at all

No way an R&R on a 2.3 is a 16 hour job. I bet it is not even half that..

"Why not Minot, cause freezin's the reason" Completely unrelated but one person will get it. As for Frozen's question, I am sure you will have transmission issue's as well..

I think 2 people that have done it before and know what to do could do it in 3 hours or less.

1 hour engine out, 1 hour engine in, 1 hour for miscellaneous while the other guy spends 15 minutes doing the wiring harness.

Don't say it couldn't be done, it could, running, ready to go.

give your self a week straight just incase.
Myself I can do a full swap in one day... as long as I run into no problems and the other motor already has the needed equipment.
Even I seem to run into some sort of problem, no matter how much I prepare.

Yeah the wiring is a little more extensive in the 91-93's but you should be able to do this no problem. Just read and read and then read some more. Check out Stinger's website he has all the wiring and swap info that will get you started http://projecthp.ford23.com/
