Hey guys...Anyone can jump in on this..I want to get the thing dyno'ed soon to actually find out, but im just curious on what you guys think?
I just got my 1990 Lx running bout a month ago..I got 1000 miles on a new Dss racing 306 shortblock, Thumper heads, gt-40 intake setup, E-303 cam, 70mm TB and spacer, Granitelli Calibrated MAF, Stock injectors, cold air kit, kirban adj. fuel reg., 190LPH fuel pump, stock pushrods/rockers, New ford racing lifters, MSD 6AL ignition and TFI coil, Ford racing plug wires, Ford racing Jethot coated shorty headers, offroad h-pipe, flowmaster 40's.
AOD transmission. High performance rebuild with new heavy duty parts, shift kit, and 2400 Stall.
Also next week will be GDI 3 row radiator, mr. gasket 180 thermo, HD clutch and fan.
what do ya think i have HP and torque wise? figured some of you motorheads could give me a guess...it pulls pretty hard...If you shift it the right way, it will chirp 2nd gear really hard or even throw out the back end...thats always fun lol...i was hoping it would of like just kept spinning tho and went nuts? do you think if i had 3.73's or 4.10's in the back it would be alot more crazy like that? Its listed in the reference book as having a 3.27's limited slip in there so...

hey man, with that kind of set up you should get about 360, i would guess. what kind of transmission do you have? as for tourqe you would be looking at something like 385, i think you should get it dynoed and tuned somewhere to find out for sure. sounds like you have a pretty stout steed!

lol well i really dont know what to tell ya...Theres a vin number match up in the chiltons book and it says some stangs were actually built with 3.27's and 3.73's in them...if the letter is in your vin number..which mine matches to a 3.27 limited slip...im not lieing...
also i think mine was made in canada so...

no way you are making 360/385. I would seriously guess you are running about 310-320hp at the fly.

dont forget when you get it dyno'd you will put down a little less power because of your auto tranny than if you had a 5 speed, so dont be discouraged.

I agree, and if you're that concerned about the specific gear ratio then just jack up the rear end and do it the old fashioned way. Turn a wheel and count the axle rotations... :nice: Piece of cake

Ok well say i wanted to throw some 4.10's in there...i wouldnt do it myself i hear its alittle tough...but anyway...would i almost HAVE too get the rear rebuilt? there is 165,000 on it...the fluid was changed and everything alittle bit ago...but i mean i REALLY do no have the money to rebuild it or get a new one...im just curious on what ppl do or reccomend...
oh yea and just a curious question, but as you look at my mods, what really else could i do to get more HP or torque? like bolt on wise or adjustments...My timing is only at 12* and stock fuel pressure right now, because of breaking in the engine and all...would setting both of them at a good place get me roaring more?

I'm not sure about the power that it would make, but I am sure that some 4.10's would make a night and day difference. It doesn't have any Hp gain but it's the best bang for you buck. If 4.10's are a little to steep for you i would go with the 3.73's. One thing that i did notice was that you said that you were running stock injectors. With all of that motor work, heads etc...and your bigger fuel pump, i think that your motor is starving for gas. I would think at least 24#ers. But remember to calibrate your MAF when you do that. -Don

yea the injectors you are probaly right..but i mean i was fooling around and i had my fuel pressure turned up and it smelled real gassy!? it seeme dlike it was getting too much fuel..so why would i need bigger injectors..im probaly missing something tho..

honestly, i wouldnt do the gears myself either. as for having to rebuild the rear, i wouldnt worry about it but your trac loc probably needs rebuilding. when they do the gears just have them rebuild it while they are there, the rebuild kit is only like 40.00.

as for extra hp and tq, i didnt see what rockers you are using. i would suggest 1.7's or 1.72's (i used the 1.72's with my old ported gt40s and b cam on a 306. I know that this debate goes on and on but I think you would be better off with the 65mm throttle body opposed to the 70 you are using. I think you are losing a little tq at least. i used to run my fuel pressure around 40 and my timing around 14 degrees but i wouldnt do that until you have it dyno'd and tuned then let them do it.

I dont really think that there is all that much more power to be had with those heads and that cam. good combination when on a budget but they are only good to so much power on a 306. you could port your intake if it isnt done already.

and i also agree with the above, either 3.73's or 4.10's would be night and day to what you have already. id go with one of those or 3.90's.

is that what happends huh..****ty gas milage lol...
how much do a good set of 4.10's go for..what name should i get...and how much do u think a shop will charge to put them in?
like seriously with them in, whats it gonna do? lol i wanna kno

3.73 is probably the best all around gear for a 5.0 car.

take a look at this chart and see how much rpm's you want to run on the highway.

i have 3.27's in my 5 speed and they are staying cause i'm going supercharger and i like having a car with a lot of top end vs off the line accleration. not that it would be a problem with 450rwhp
