How much HP can a Stock rear-end handle??

it can handle that much power, what you need to worry about is with traction what will happen. a friend of mine makes 250hp 290tq but he had alot of suspension work and he is running HUGE mt drag radials and he spun one of his axle tubes.

Yeah thats not good :nono: I do have subframes, control arms, torquearm, etc etc all from maxium motor sports so we will see.
:hail2: :SNSign:

I have gone 12's in the 1/4 and high 7's in the eighth on my 7.5 in axle, 4.10's and SVO traction lock. Includes a few sprayed launches, but still high 1.8 sixty foots.

A lot of it has to do with how violently you want to launch. A stick car on Drag Radials, MT's or slicks will most likely break something quickly with hard launches and shifts.

I am headed to 31 spline axles, and c-clip eliminators in my new 8.8 as soon as I can get there.

Hey Rd I have an 82 GT. What all did you do to your motor to get those times. Did you use the stock block and pistons. Just change the top end or what. I am looking for some upgrades to do to the car. I put a 4 barrel on it with headers. Any input would be great.

If you mean letting go as in breaking stuff....you don't need to worry, although things do happen. If letting go includes the traction lock (one wheel peel) going bad, well that happens with stock power.

Yeah i know the stock traction lock sucks..so thats a given, but an axle breaking when im power shifting into 3rd IMO cant be good
I only ask cause im putting 345hp/355tq to the wheels and want to
run a 100-150shot but sorta scared about the rear coming apart on me
