installed my trickflow kit and have the 1.6 roller rockers, stud mount, and standard valve covers. i know the rockers are clearing the valve covers. i prelubed the engine, and i beleive i adjusted the valves correctly. just wondering how much noise i should be expecting to hear, it's not overwhelmong, but definitely there. and it doesn't seem like any one is louder than another.

thanks
mike

I just got the same kit installed a couple weeks ago.

It is going to make a much more mechanical sound then stock, but you shouldn't hear any defined chattering or loud ticking from the valvetrain (everything should sound smooth).

You'll also notice you can hear the valvetrain "doing it's work" through the top of the intake, which you probably never heard when it was stock.

I've been told by many engine builders that it should sound like a sewing machine. I think thats a good term for it. the important thing is to make sure its consistently loud on each cylinder and not one in particular.

I've experimented with this a few times, and theres a write up on it on Comp Cams website. I originally went 1/4 turn past zero lash, now I'm at 3/4 turn past zero lash and some of the noise went away.

Yea it will be louder but like everyone said if one cylinder is making more noise than the others...check adjustment. Or if you hear a distinct tapping between the normal tapping I would check that too. Depending on your lift and valve spring pressure it may be louder than others. My 331 w/ .544 lift @ valves is louder than my old e303 cam 306 which had lighter springs and less lift.
