My friend just picked up a silver '87 5.0, yesterday.

It has cat-back exhaust, BBK headers, mac intake, ford racing wires and FRPP 3.73 gears.

However the car was never tuned after getting the gears, so I'm sure he's losing some power there. From what I've read 5.0's make ~190rwhp.

I'm guessing:
cat-back: 5-8rwhp
headers: 10-15rwhp
intake: 5-8rwhp
wires: 5rwhp

I figure he should be around 220rwhp. That sound about right?

Why would you need to get a car tuned after adding gears? Just slap em in and go. No need to adjust anything on the engine for this particular year.

Stock 5.0's can make anywhere from 180HP to 200HP at the rear wheels stock in a good state of tune. AOD's will be at the lower end and 5-spds at the high end.

With those mods, he's probably about 210-220HP assuming the car is in a good state of tune.

if hes serious about modifying this car, id say converting to mass air instead of speed density is one of the first things he should look into doing.
