I have a 306 with AFR 165 Heads, F303 cam and Edelbrock RPM intake, 24 lbs injectors. I have it at 13 degrees right now but I am having a heating issue. I had a 160 theromstat and I changed it to a 180 and still having the same problem. I think it is a timing problem. How much timing can I go up to and be save.

I have a 2 core alum. radiator, Mark 8 electric fan that run on high all the time and 180 theromstat and added water wetter. It runs 180 on the highway but when it sits in traffic it gets up to 210 and it started going pass 210 on Sunday sitting at a stop light. I was told that timing could make it run hot if it is not set right.

210° isn't hot. The low speed fan doesn't even turn on until 208° on my 95 and that's how it's configured from the factory. Are you certain that you have no air in the system?

I had the same problem last year it would run kinda warm going down the road but if I got stuck in traffic or at a light it would get hotter than a pistol even after the addition of rthe double pass alum. radiator I installed a high flow water pump and t-stat ran nice an cool after that

Mine likes to run real warm too, but never goes over the 210 mark. Check for air in the system and make sure your T-stat isnt in backwards or is stuck shut (ask how I know these things LOL). Good luck!

I got a high flow water pump today. I am going to install it this weekend. I hope it helps out. Why I am concerned is before I rebuilt the motor my car would run around 190 all the time and now it is getting up to 210 and a little passed it.
