Well today I ALMOST had my car back together for my favorite Thursday night get together...all I had to do was align the exhaust after a control arm install, and drop in my rear shocks. Well I put the new KYB gas-adust in place with bushings on, started the screw, then torqued her down with my weak ass electric impact. Funny thing though...the damn threads stripped out on the damn shock!! I know this gun..used it on SEVERAL different areas of the car and the torque output is so-so, it gets the job done. I was a little angry...well actually insane for a period of time..I have NEVER had a problem with a damn shock install...hell I did a set for a buddy on sunday. Now I have a spankin new KYB on the way (more $ wasted), and a spankin new jacked up shock on my garage floor..with a faint shoe print on it. The thread was torn up even worse when I attempted to remove the nut...KYB will be getting a box and a less than pleasant note via ups. Anyhow I will ATTEMPT to install the new shock (well both actually I stoped after the first one) with no more effort than holding the cylinder in hand, and torque applied via 1/2 drive rachet..I assume the bolt should be able to handle that. ONCE AGAIN MY 5 MINUTE PROJECT TURNS INTO A COMPLETE ORDEAL...for the third time this week, I still love that damn car though.

Oh if I had actually scraped out a true quality/high priced unit..I probably would have beaten the gun over my head, rather than just give the piece of crap a bad case of shaken baby syndrome...neighbours refer to me as the best substitution for summer TV reruns ever when I work on my car.

Ah yes. Like you, I am also responsible for furthering the neighborhood children's education on the proper use of acceptable words for joining the military.

always start threaded fasteners by hand, then apply impact wrench! I didnt have any probs with my KYB stuff
Actually I not only started, but seated the nut. Glad you didn't have any issues with your "stuff". :nice: nice of you to stop by, miss read my rant, then inform me of your success with a simular product...most helpful. :canada:

The thing is that we can do something 100 times and the 101st time we do it, it breaks. It just happens.

Amen to that guys...my replacements arrived today, owner of a local speed shop pulled some strings and was able to get them here for today. The only problem was he ordered the wrong ones...ah live and learn. I've not only come to expect it, but it gives me excellent stories to share with the boys. My wife says I have to put 5 bucks in the drawer everytime I use a profanity while working in the garage. The money collected will be used to "extend" my car budget when I run over..smart girl, that fund will collect quickly if history repeats itself.
