How paranoid are y'all about your Stang getting stolen?

And what are you doing about it, other than the obvious, like not leaving your keys in it or leaving it unlocked? Alarms? Armed guards?

Mine's nowhere near as nice as what I see here everyday, but the more I do, the more I know there are a**holes around here who'd love to back a tow truck up to it while I'm gone.

if they are willing to break into my garage start it up try and drive the bitch out of my garage with out me knowing... more power to them... its insured. i will just get a faster one

Well, I know my truck is worth more, but it's the kind of people around here who would love to have my car. Most "stangers" are punk ass two bit redneck kids who have little money and no concern for their futures right now, and thanks to hip-hop culture crime is cool. Combine that with some meth and you have issues. These cars are simple enough so that even they could manage to hot wire them. Face it, most people into foxes are those who don't have the money to buy a newer car. Not all, just most. Anyone could steel one of these cars and part it out and have it all gone fast. There are four foxbodies in my neighborhood and one SN-95 5.0. Two run, the SN95 I think runs. The one's that don't are owned by these younger guys in their 20's and even when they did run, they couldn't get out of their way, and now they can't figure out why they don't run or they just don't have the money. Goofy, lanky, mush mouth talking rednecks and I won't even talk to them.

It's all about where I park it. The local walmart where half of the people there at night are these two bit rednecks with stanger dreams, I won't leave it unattended. The pro car thief won't waste his time, but the two bit toothless redneck type will. Just keep it near a K5 blazer, bronco, or a 3rd gen camaro and tit will reduce your odds. I hate people who steal.

I'm not nearly as paranoid as I used to be. Along with standard car alarms I've got fuel cut-off switches in both cars. Admittedly I rarely use the cut-off switch nowadays. Also have pedal locks that I rarely bother with anymore. Depends on where I am really. Both cars are garage parked at night.

Back I was daily driving mine I used to park it in lot downtown for my work. It had lights and cameras but I work from 6pm-6:30am so there is trash wondering around all the time. I used to keep nitrous bottle and stereo in the back but after 5 attempted break ins I desided to pull them out. Car has alwas had an alarm on it but its just a cheapo but makes noise as soon as you touch the car. If I knew it was going to be sitting some where for awhile I'd go ahead and pull the fuel pump relay out.

Mine has a tracking system and another back up device. My house and garage have a security system with video ( long before the stang was around). The upfront cost might be alot to some but it really isn't and the savings on the insurance over a few years will pay for it. The peace of mind is nice even though anyone can still try it but they will most likely get busted so I'm hoping they will move on to another target.

Not worried about some wanting to take my 86 as a professional thief. But I do think I would be targeted by would be "joy riders". So I park the car in a safe garage (cameras, magnetic pass). Ignition and fuel locks (hidden switches) and unplugged battery under the hood when not used for a while. I don't park in public places too often, if I do, I always have an eye on the car and the Viper 2 way alarm helps lol...

Mine is an easy 20 footer currently but I don't worry about it too much other than making sure it's locked and not parked in a bad area when possible. It had one of those cheapo auto doorlock/alarm deals when I bought it but I was annoyed with how it operated after a couple weeks that I clipped the power wire/harness on it.

Wow you guys really value your cars. I guys I'm one of those two bit guys because I couldnt afford a $30g sports car and paid $2500 for a fox body that I drive every day. The precautions I take is I put my GPS and Ipod in the glovebox so no one sees and leave the windows down if I know I wont be more than 30 mins. I leave it parked outside of my house on the street with the windows down mostly all day and have forgotten and were down all throughout the night. If someone steals my car I'm just SOL because I know my insurance will probably only pay out $1,500 at the most. But since I'm in my mid twenties and cant afford a real sports car on military pay I must be a heathen anyways.

Not paranoid at all. It's why I choose to live where I do, so I can leave my front door wide open all night long if I want and not have a worry in the world.

My car is safe, I hardly ever lock the doors. Unless of course I'm out and about, then I lock her up all the time.

I spent an entire summer pretty much on my back redoing the underside, suspension, brakes, AOD-to-t5 swap that every weekend was spent under the car. It even resulted in a minor trip to the emergency room. I have hours and hours of passionate work into it.

If some punk decided they wanted to take it for a ride and total it for a cheap thrill, I would be devastated. Insurance may pay me for the car, but it will never repay the time I invested in it.

Needless to say...if you mess with my car...I will hurt somebody

Keys? You guys start your cars with keys? LOL I have a funky looking shifter lever and a hidden red button. It takes 2 hands to start my car. Then they have to figure out how to drive a manual valve body AOD. Most of the time when i'm driving my keys are sitting on the passenger seat.

Oh no I understand, maybe I havent gotten to the fun parts of working on my car, but thats why sometimes I wish someone would steal my car and put me out of my misery. I've never been so frustrated with a vehicle as I have been with my car at times, but I do love my stang and enjoy driving it. I've owned a few different fords and I know if there is fluid in a certain spot it will leak and if it can whine it will. Right now my car leaks everything except washer fluid and brake fluid, knock on wood.

Well put. Most of us own these cars in the first place due to some sort of emotional attachment. If I lost mine to theft or destruction I would be devastated.
