I got my passenger side header out and my drivers side off but I dont know how to disconnect the steering shaft or take out my starter. oh and how do I take out my a/c condenser/ a/c line that runs along the intake manifold(drivers side) thanks
The steering shaft has a single bolt towards the front, near the rack -- you unscrew the bolt all the way (have to remove it) and then the steering shaft will telescope back and off. You can just let it hang once it's loose.
The starter is held on by two bolts, one is down low and the other is almost on top. Just feel for them with your fingers, not hard to do at all. A bit more of a pain when trying to reinstall with LT's in the way, but doable.
To take out the A/C condenser you'll have to unbolt the radiator from its brackets, then the same for the condenser, remove the overflow tank and bracket, remove the two A/C lines on the top pass side of the condenser and it'll come right out between the radiator and frame. To get the A/C lines on the drivers side off, on the back of the compressor there will be a 10mm (i think) bolt almost rigth in the middle... Follow both of the A/C lines down to the compressor and it'll be right there. Take that out and the lines will come off. Of course you'll have to disconect all of the lines where its needed.
NM! got it and procedded to get hit in the chest by a falling factory header. NEXT QUESTION: HOW TO JACK UP ENGINE (what bolts on motor mounts and what not, im a first timer at this)
Jack up the motor from the bottom of the pan -- use a nice big block of wood to spread the load so you don't bend the oil pan. The motor can be released from the mounts easily -- look straight up from below at the motor mounts and you can see the bolts. Tip -- when you are hooking the mounts back up, don't let the full weight of the motor rest on the mounts until after you have started the bolts, it will make it easier to maneuver it around enough to get the bolts started.
ok so take off those 4 nuts, take a peice of wood and put it under the oil pan(tranny too?) and slowly jack it up. what about my power pipe that goes into the fenderwell, do i have to take off that elbow too?
I didn't disconnect anything else -- whether or not you need to remove your power pipe depends on how tight it is, and how far you jack up the motor. If you're only going a half inch to an inch, it will probably be fine...
