The guy I bought my car fron converted it from a lx to a gt, and i'm going to be painting it soon, he put the sides under the doors on with two sided tape, it holds ok, but not great and I'm gonna be painting it soon, I know the sides are held level and up with the metal bracket, but how is it help up under the car? any ideas of how it can get them to hold well without the tape? thanks

I work at a body shop and we use liquid 2 part adhesive. You should be able to get it at any automotive paint shop. You'll need to buy extra tips to put on the adhesive "gun" because once it's dry the adhesive will clog up the tip. Along with that we put screws into it underneath where they aren't seen.

Yea, that double sided tape never works very good. Only time we use that is to attach emblems or sometimes trim.

Gt's had numerous mounting strips that riveted on to the body, they were made out of tin or thin metal. I just looked at them the other day in a catalog they are still made today. I would prefer to do it the right way then glueing them, but thats just me. Underneath i thought they had a bunch of screws to hold it to the rocker.
