How to remove clutch pedals?

What are the steps in removing the clutch and brake pedal from a stick shift 92 Mustang? All of mine are automatics, and I found the change over stuf, and got all the stuff from the block to the driveshaft.

What has to come out to get to the pedal support?

Well basically, you have to remove the dash panels under the steering wheel, remove the hood latch release, drop the steering wheel (or make life easy and remove the steering wheel and column all together), remove the four bolts that attach the pedals to the firewall (very tricky to get to all the nuts, you'll swear many times), remove I think 2 bolts that attach the pedal assembly at the top. Thats pretty much the jist of it. I'm sure I missed some things. Basically just start taking things apart until it comes off, just remember where everything goes.

Be sure to remember where all your electrical connections go!

Make sure you dont damage tha swith that turns the brake lights on. i did that when we swaped my car over to a 5 speed. You also have to unhook the brake pedal from the booster thing. I took the seat out of my car and used alot of extension. It took about 45minutes to an hour to get it installed. But i had a blown fuse somewhere and it took another half hour to figure out it was a fuse not the brake switch.

Search for AOD to T5 conversion articles -- they will be just the same asyou are trying to do. The pedals will come out as a complete assembly.

Thanks. They turned the car on its side after I got the console and trim out. I was tired of working on it yesterday when I got the trans and stuff out, and did not roll it back down after I got the trans out. I have to go back next week to get the pedals.

I've changed heater cores, steering columns, gages, brake boosters, etc, but never have pulled the pedal assembly out of one of these.

Anyone know if a 92 pedal assembly will fit into an 89 car? I have one of those.

The only catch you may run into is with the clutch pedal. Apparently there is a minor difference between 4 and 8 cylinder cars. Not sure if it means they wouldn't work -- but there is a slight difference.

Yep sure will my peddle assembly in my 89 is out of a 92. They all interchange. Dont forget good quad and cable while u are doing swap.
