How to remove engine

Is there a guide to removing the mustang engine v6 prefferred but v8 will do.

Pictures would help.

unbolt/unplug everything connected to the engine.. get a cherrypicker and your set!

There is no way without taking apart the engine?

Where the hell is the bolts for the engine mounts and how do i reach them.

What are you working on
Presumably a V6, AT

Usually basic steps (excuse me if I forget something):
*Carefully unbolt and remove the hood.
*Raise the car up onto jackstands or preferably ramps
*Disconnect the battery
*Spray WD40 and soak exhaust bolts
*Pull the radiator out
*Pull any front engine accessories that will make it difficult to remove the engine
*Disconnect the exhaust bolts to the engine manifolds
*Disconnect and *label* all wires and hoses and lines
*Put a jack under the tranny
*Remove the bolts that mate the engine block to the tranny
*Attach the engine hoist to the engine
*Remove the bolts that mate the sides of the engine block to the frame
*Start lifting it out as a friend guides it by pulling/pushing/twisting as needed

Make sure you disconnect and label all hoses/ lines that attach to the engine that will not be pulled out with it.

Reinstall is reverse with a little finesse to get it all lined up, take your time.

Just make it happen ... it's not rocket science and sometimes you just hafta get your hands dirty to learn.

thats a good outline.

a v6 is going to be different then a v8 (5.0?) mustang im assuming. maybe try asking in the v6 forum for a more specific outline.

it should only take about 2 hours or so to pull the engine with the proper equipment.

i would rather buy a nice set of tools if you can afford it then borrowing stuff any day. having to go back and forth if your missing a socket is a pain, or if you need something else, its back and forth.

you can get a nice set of ratchets, sockets, screwdrivers, ect. for that 150 range at sears/hardware stores. i also bought a torque wrench for 20 bucks that has worked for me for 2 years now along with my 50 dollar ratchet set.

hell when i first got the car and didnt have a torque wrench or 1/2" ratchet set, i used my 3/8" ratchet and a 6" extension to take off my lug nuts

there is no v6 foxbody. only 2.3 4-bangers.

If you don't have ANY tools, definitely run out to Sears and grab a nice set. About 10 years ago I picked up a $200 set and I've been using it ever since. The good thing about Craftsman is that about 2 years after I got the set my large ratchet broke and they replaced it no questions asked

There were a few V-6's in the early Fox bodies, to include the Cologne V6 and the Essex V6.

I don't have any numbers, but the '79 had the 2.8 Cologne V-6 for a while, the '83 had the Essex 3.8 V-6. The '80 had a 3.3 straight 6.
