How to remove Wiper fluid resivor, and other weight?

Im (as you can tell) jones'n to drop weight, got rid off smog pump stuff and lines, havnt figured out how to plug up holes in the back of the heads yet (help) and i planning on taking out the back seat, and other stuff. I got to looking under the hood at stuff i could remove, and noticed the Windsheild wiper resivor i dont use it so i want to yank it out but can figure out how

I am just really trying to get down with my times, if yall have anyother things that could lighten the load with out being extreme about it fill me in! Thanks

Pull the inner fender wells. The wiper resevoir and cruise will be visible. On the passenger side there is a bunch of stuff that can be removed while the fender well is off. Ditch all the smog equipment if you don't need it.

still no easy answer to how to plug up them holes huh?
I thought i'll i needed was two bolts the size of the hole back there
Im i wrong?

A size of the bolt would help
How long?
width of the thread?
what size?
what color?

Thanks so much guys, dont know where i would be with out StangNet.........oh wait yeah i do, in the garage throwing wrenches and yelling at things, banging and scrathcing knuckles

It's 5/8" x 11 tpi (1" long) but good luck getting them in while the heads are installed. There's usually so much carbon cooked onto the threads, it's nearly impossible to thread the bolts blindly.

All I did was take the existing crossover pipe that runs across the heads, cut off the blocks, flip them over (so the side without the hole is against the head), and bolt them back down. I cleaned the area on the heads as best I could, sanded down the flat side of the blocks, eventually getting to 800 grit, and sprayed some copper gasket sealant on them just to make sure it wouldn't leak.

baglock1, do you think i would be better off just doing what you did with the pipe (which im not that sure on) or maby even just put a plug or cap just before it gets to the head? I want the benifit of the weight being gone so i would really like to get all the pipe out of there, and it makes the engine bay look cleaner

For the Wiper Fluid u have to remove the driver side inner fender and its right up in the corner by the Horn. And if you want to remove emission related stuff as in Vacuum lines u have to remove the passenger side fender and they are in there. Good luck not to hard.

You don't have to remove the fenders. Fender wells are the black inner plastic over the tires. There are a few phillips screws and it comes right out with some bending. Pull the tires off of course.

I also flipped my smog lines over and bolted them down.

got that damn resivor out, didnt remove anything either just reached in through the bottom drained her, than dremel tooled the hell out of her untill i could pull out the peices!
Resivor with bracket full of washer fluid = 11lbs.

allright yall need to shead some light on this "flipping them over thing"
do you flip the whole pipe or just the blocks? Im very confused, some more explanation along with some pics or diagrams would be very helpfull, remember im from Texas you gotta explain things to me a coupla times

I put one of the grinder wheels on it and just cut it into a few peices, came right out with no problem after that! Man that how you do it, when somthing doesnt want to come out Smash it till it does!

Well your a newer stang, I lost some wieght by dropping out the front sway bar, taking out the rear hatch insulation, and insulation under the rear seat, the insulation on the rear interior panels(from door to hatch area), some misc. small stuff(oz. of stuff), ummm... all I can think of now. If you want to get real serious, you can chisel all the stock deadening material in your car off, like under the carpet, and in the hatch area, thats about 100lbs. in that crap alone.

I just took 2 9/16 bolts (i thought do a search on it first) and some high temp lock tight and cut the bolt down to like 4-5 threads with my dremel (greatest envention ever) bolted right in, but i also have my a/c removed other wise i think the drverside is a PITA. hope this helps

I once drove 10 miles holding the sprayer down so I could drain the resevoir before I got to the track..... I was smilining at everyone and watching their face. I got alot of smiles.


to plug the holes, use 2 stock cheapo sparkplugs ... break the ends off
