Hurst Shifter Rattle

I installed my Hurst competition shifter. It looks great and feels good too. (199.99 at summit) Well the shifter has been fine for about a week. Then it started rattling when hitting higher rpm above 4500. I have checked everything, everything is tight. I even make a gasket out of a sheet of rubber to put in between the linkage and the handle. It helped out a little but it still rattles. Do you guys have any other suggestions for me to try?

I have just recently heard about the rattle with the Hurst Shifter @ higher RPM's. I have not installed mine yet but let me know if you hear anything from anyone else.

Weird.Just weird...
I had a similar "rattling" problem myself. I noticed that the hex bolt that mounts the shifter handle at the bottom will rattle loose after a while. So I loosened up the bolt, wrapped it with thread tape and tightened it back up.
Hint: A good way to tell if it is loose is to move the stick. If it has any free wiggle at all, its not tight...It should not move unless you want it to shift..small movement will be enough to cause audible vibration at higher RPM's from the loose metal vibrating against each other.

Yeah I noticed this too, but after tightening the hex bolts it still rattled. I think it is coming for the ball and socket in the bottom of the shifter. Hurst should have installed a zerk fitting on the bottom of the shifter so you can grease it. So the grease will lubricate and take up the clearance. I talked to Hurst they said to use a thin piece of rubber in between the shifter handle on the linkage. I did that so they have no idea what is going on. I hope they will do something but I doubt it.

Well there is definitely something loose somewhere. I hope you find it though!
Maybe one of the bolts under the car that mounts the shifter to the Tranny is loose???

Soon after I first installed mine I had a "wobble" in the handle, but it was just b/c my brother hadn't tightened the linkage to the handle all the way. Other than that, no problems at all.

I think it might be the spectaculum triacticide actuator. Make sure its 3.6 mm's short of the fordriculum force modulator.
(I figured I would make something stupid up) he he he
