If you only smell gas by the CAI then you might want to inspect the factory nylon fuel lines for cracks. JFI they are actually under the rubber coating so it might be hard to detect as the rubber will conseal the actuall break in the nylon line. Dont drive it until you find the source. I would hate to see a fire incident. good luck

Is there vacuum present in the vac line to the EGR while ldling? There should NOT be. If there is, double check the vac line routing. Then check the EGR solenoid (in case it's stuck or the trigger wire shorted and grounded out).

Did you actually use a timing light to set timing?
Did you check the outer ring of the balancer to ensure it hasnt slipped?
Was the rotor pointing directly at the #1 position when it was seated? This is important for injector timing.

The stink could be the EVAP lines. THe charcoal cannister is under your antenna (you remove the passenger wheel liner to access it). and the lines run on the passenger side firewall area. They tend to rot and this results in gas stink.
