I finally got around to downloading some footage from the Thunderbird and Cougar Shootout at Kilkare Raceway in Ohio from this past summer. Got a couple of runs that didn’t turn out too badly. The camera work on the others were just too awful to subject you guys to (blame my nephew, the incompetent camera man!!!) . :bang:

Over all, I didn’t do too badly. The car was tuned pretty conservatively (since I didn’t want to chance blowing it up 12-hours from home) and I had a few transmission issues that I unfortunately wasn’t able to work out it time for the shootout (that kinda hurt my times) but over all it was fun. Was running consistent 13.0-13.2’s all day long. With better air (it was about 80F with a good bit of humidity that day), some more timing and a revamp of my shift scheduling, it’s got solid mid/high-12’s in it.

I ended up being the 13th quickest car at the Shootout. The fastest ran a string of 10.7’s at about 125mph.

Too bad I’ll probably never get around to running it again. It looks like I’ve got the car sold come this spring. :( Ah well….I’m already looking into building another Mustang, so we’ll see what the future brings. Still though, I’ve surprised more than a few guys with this car....especially when they hear my Eaton screaming for mercy in their ears. :D

Yeah, the IRS makes her hunker down pretty good coming out of the hole. Even still though, I was only cutting mid-1.8 60ft times. Looking back now, I would have gone with a lot looser torque converter than I did. Something in the 3,600-3,800 stall range would have really got her moving!
