I got hit saturday night on my motorcycle

Im not sure how many people here knew i rode.

But ive owned a few different bikes over the last few years, its my next biggest passion next to stangs, ive had a daytona triumph 600, a kawasaki ninja ZX11 and now i just wrecked my 94 CB1000 :(

Myself and a few other riders were at a red light, we needed to get over into the right lane to hit 275 south, and from what the witness behind me said (3 cars back) when i started merging over to the right lane the light JUST turned green.....and the car in front of her joooked to the right to get around the car that was behind me and suddenly there i was....being plowed

The bikes worse then iam....sorta

Cracked the valve cover, handle bars and ignition switch along with the peg assemblies the exhaust and the gas tank are ****ed..


IVe got a broken leg, about a 7 inch lasceration on the same leg and some minor rash on my legs (i was wearing my helmet/jacket/gloves/shoes/jeans)

I cant describe how happy Emergency workers get when they hear that we wear our gear:occasion1

By the way....my upper body, hands head etc are completly scratch free....i love leathers....pics to follow :flag:

Thank goodness you're alright. Your're a braver man than me. No way I'm going to ride a motorcycle in traffic the way folks around here drive. I have riden my mountain bike to school before but I take the quiet neighborhood streets. Call me a chicken.

Yeah man. Glad to hear you are okay. I'm a daily rider as well. It always pains me to see the guys that actually protect themselves being the ones getting hit by, from your story, an irresponsible driver. *sigh* Get well man.:nice:

Did you get hit by a little blue haired pair of knuckles? That's what wiped me out on my birthday about 6 years ago. Out for a nice afternoon and then got it from the side from a little old lady who couldn't see over the dash. The last thing that I remember was seeing a little pair of knuckles and a blue hair do... :D

I was good, broken ankle and dislocated knee, but other than that all was cake to get over. :)

glad you are ok..
i used to ride bikes also..still have the m class on my drivers lisense..
first thing i learned is watch out for the other guy....the second thing is how to crash without getting badlly hurt...yes it sounds silly but you have to see where you are going to land etc...unless you have no time to react.. main thing is that you are ok.

Glad to hear you're okay. A deer tried to hitch a ride on my dad's motorcycle a few years ago. Sounds like you fared a little worse than he did, but not by much - he broke a collar bone & some ribs + road rash and a concusion. On a motorcycle, where there's nothing between you & the pavement, leathers, helmet, and such is definitely a good idea.

I ride too, it's my biggest fear. I have been riding since the 1970's, and the roads & highways are a much scarier place now a days.

PA has no helmet laws, and I think they are nuts. I always wear my "Brain Bucket", as I don't want to end up an blabbering idiot like Gary Busey. I have only had two minor cases where I had to drop the bike, and have been fortunate. I always worry about that. I always wear heavy clothes, but don't have leathers, but have heard over & over again how they do work.

Get better, heal. Winter is coming, football time!

*** W A R N I N G *** Graphic description for the queasy.

My buddy witnessed a cycle accident several years ago, old man pulled out in front of a Harley rider that didn't have a helmet, dude was doing about 45-50 and went over the hood of the old man's caddy. Killed the cycle rider, my buddy was behind the caddy, had to stay as a witness. He knew better, but still went over the the rider, said the guy's neck was broke, but his face was on the back of his head, not neck broke and 180, but that the skin had twisted around on his skull.

Dude! I didn't really want to read this thread; I was dreading what I would see/hear.
Glad to hear you're alright though. About 17 years ago, a buddy and I took off from our workplace on his SuperGlide to a local burrito shack for a "late breakfast run" . Coming out of Stan's, we didnt get even a block when a Snowbird in a "Class C" Winnebago calmly blew a stop sign and turned in front of us. My buddy lays the bike down and I pop off the bi-otch pad on back (still carrying the bag of machaca and egg burritos under my arm ('til I hit the ground). Buddy rides the Glide all the way into the side of the motorhome - shatters the front 5-spoke rim, the tubes "do the splits", the left-hand highway bar is ground clean through, big dent in the left-side Fat Bob, and the shifter lever snaps off clean. :nonono: Before it's done, though, the bike manages to punch the Winnie's generator out of it's compartment and into the center aisle of the motorhome. :nice: :nice: :nice:

After much yelling and screaming (and help from a very nice "little old lady" who witnessed the whole thing"); Merlin G Lipschitz of Busted Flat, Minnesota got tagged with the "Why don't you get some glasses 'cause you obviously can't see which way a 4'x4' Stop sign is facing!" ticket. :banana:
We went down to my friend's Allstate Insurance lady and she looked at the name of the Snowbird (also an Allstate client); said "Not again!" Apparently, this escapee from Darwinism had, one year and nine days before, totaled his Airstream by attempting to make a "Right turn out of the left-hand lane" manuever; except for some reason he couldn't quite drag his trailer over the top of the F350 4x4 in the right-hand lane :rolleyes: the Winnie had replaced the Airstream. :nonono:

I'm not gonna let Mrs StDr read this thread; 'cause I'd still like to pick up a 1200cc Sporty for my DD back and forth to work.

Man - which light? I'm in St. Pete too. People just don't fricken look, do they. I broke my leg back in 95 in St. Pete. 85 Honda Interceptor :(

Well the wreck was on dale mabry in tampa bro ;)

Thanks for all the kind words guys!!!!

I picked up some methadones yesterday...only taking one a day, i feel alot better nd pain is next to none....

The driver was actualy a KID younger then me,,,,maybe 17 or so and he was driving an RSX...it was defnitly his fault as he changed lanes when he shouldent have...and he hit ME...so that makes him at fault...

I will ride again very soon....this is my second bike acccident....but the first that involved me getting creamed by a car....very crazy :(...

I wont ride again for a little while though, im going to focus on getting the stangs body work fixed now...once that is done i may buy the new 07 R1 :D
