I hate dealers....

So I took the car in for a new clutch to the local ford dealer...talked to a tech couple of days before and said there should be no reason they couldnt get it done in a day, and they wouldnt loose the royal purple tranny fluid I put in, so I dropped it off at 9am yesterday, didnt receive a call, finally called in at 630, to find out that the service dept is closed, without telling me the status of my car... called in today, and they told me that they lost half my tranny fluid, and they wont be done with it till after 300 today. I am soo tired of dealing with dealers, the last one scratched my roof pretty good, and left armpit juice all over my door pannel...I wouldve done it myself if i had the tools. END RANT.

dealers do suck. they say that they know your vehicle best, but that's really up to the employee working for them.

i take mine to dedicated Mustang tune-up shops that literally know the Mustang best.

Yea dealers are money hungry and less on doing things right and efficiently. Its def hard to find any reputable dealers/shops anymore. Good luck with them replacing the tranny fluid correctly.

You could be like me. Took mine in for a clutch install and came out with the famous sqeek from the TOB. Took it back, they said it was from my tranny, had to have the tranny replaced, still sqeeking, then said it was aftermarket clutch, they won't touch it.

My dealer took off some more paint on my Cobra R bumper and even broke my bumper support. He also didn't tighten the exhaust bolts tight enough and it caused me to have a one side come open. Good thing I was able to salvage the bolts. They were hanging by 2 threads.

NO, the armpit juice was absolutely disgusting...white **** all over my door panel. So went and picked it up today, the second I started to give it gas I knew something was wrong, I got about 50 feet down the street and turned around, exhaust leak, so that drained another hour out of my life waiting there. I swear, I am never going back to a dealer again. It's not the idea that people make mistakes, I understand that, but this is fundamental stuff that is not that difficult and something that shouldn't, always seems to go wrong. They filled it up with some motorcraft synthetic tranny fluid, almost 4 quarts, I asked the tech...I want it to be at 3.5...sigh. How is the motorcraft fluid? For my next adventure, whatever that may be, anyone know a good mustang or tuning shop in the Sacramento area?

Ive been trying to find a good stang shop in Sac too, but have had no luck yet. If i do go to the dealer, I go to Downtown ford because they have a few knowledgable service writers & techs there. Dont take this the wrong way, but if your from Sacramento, why does it say your from "THE BAY, CALI". Sac isnt the bay.

I never took my car to a dealer, but I'm fairly confident in Honolulu Ford.

Just a tip, keep a pen and post it notes in your car. If they don't give you a paper to sign off on your currecnt mileage, write it on 2 post its. stick 1 on the odo, and keep 1 for yourself.

the 1 time I forgot, the place had my car for 6 days trying to fix my saleen wing, but I bet it sat there for 5. then when I got it back, I had about 13 miles more than what I dropped it off with.

I'm from the bay, but go to sac state and live in sac now, just too lazy to change it...whoever. I told them that it needed a new clutch, and I WANTED them to put a new clutch in, that it was slipping in 3rd and 4th. I wrote the mileage down and found 5 more miles on my car...the kicker is that on the invoice they said that they took the car for a test drive to test the clutch, which kinda pisses me off cuz I told them what I wanted them to do, im sure they beat the piss out of it. I feel so violated every time I get work done on my car by a shop, it sucks. I wish the automotive industry was trustworthy. If anyone does know of a good shop in the greater Sac area please help a brotha out!! On the plus side, the new clutch is nice, WORLDS different from my worn out extremely stiff old one, I almost put my foot through the floor pushing the pedal down the first time!

You cant be positive they went out to beat the piss out of it. The exhaust leak was completely their fault, the car should have never went into your pocession with an exhaust leak if it went in the shop without one.

That aside, how can you possibly expect a shop to put a clutch in your car, and not drive it to be sure its driving good before they release the car to you? How pissed would you be if you came to get your car, and it acts up? It would be like the exhaust leak; they shouldnt have released the car to you.

I'm sure the owner of the 2007 EVO MR that I put a clutch in a little over a month ago may have been upset that I put a couple miles on their car. You have to understand though, it doesnt pay me or any other tech in this business to drive the piss out of customer cars. Fixing a car after a joyride doesnt pay the bills. Any respectfull tech would have driven your car to make sure all is running well, and parked it.

Oh i see.... I was just curious because alot of people try to call Sac "The Bay", & the actual bay is an hour away. There is a place called HCI motorsports in the north area, but I think they do more engine building there. I went & checked them out once & they had a plethora of sick stangs they were working on. & there used to be a place behind Sacramento Mustang called JT's performance that specialized in Stangs, but they moved somewhere else. Call Sacramento Mustang @ 916-484-3434. They might know of some good shops.

Not to throw gas on the fire, but I was out driving tonight, and my SES light came on...I'm assuming its the mil eliminators, they must've screwed them up somehow, disconnected or something, kinda easy fix, other than the 1 hour drive I have to do to fix it. And after picking up the car, my sub doesn't hit near as hard as it did the second I dropped it off, which is really weird to me, seeing as how I took the face off my deck before leaving the car with them. All the connections are right and hooked up, and i've run through the deck like 5 times looking over the settings and they are back to what they were before I dropped it off, and it still sounds weak...I dont know what the hell it is nor what to do about this, sorry for this entire thread being one big rant, but i've spent a lot of time and money and my car and it just feels like its falling apart before my eyes. I'm going back tomorrow, not sure yet what i'm gonna say. I think mr. Jack Daniels will help me figure it out

kinda reminds me of the time i put a steering rack in an XC90

a week later the lady comes in screaming because her check engine light came on and it's MY fault because I must've screwed up somehow

Isnt it amazing how people always think its the dealer/tech's fault when something goes wrong with their car when they just had service done? They dont even know whats wrong with the thing and they get mad.

Sure there are alot of bad/shady tech's out there but alot of customers are just as bad.

This is why I never promise ETA on repairs. My service writers hate that but I rather give the guy a loaner car and keep him off my back instead of rushing us to get the job done. I give a IDEA of when it will be done and always inform the customer that things can and do come up that are unexpected.

Unfortunately over the years many bad shops have ruined it for the good ones.

BTW if you think this stuff does not happen in private shops or specialty shops then your fooling yourself. Your best bet is to find ONE guy YOU trust and know and let him do the work.

Private shops can be just as bad as a dealer. Some even have less care for your car than a dealer.

I can tell you horror stories from some of my experiences working in Private shops. I will say that all 3 dealerships I have worked for, they cared about the work and the customer and did a better job than the private shops charging for an alignment and then setting the toe and saying have a nice day!

I hate dealers....
