My 92 LX has a 347, LT headers, H-pipe, Flowmasters. When I purchased the car the PO had already deleted all the smog stuff (TF heads).

I do not like running with out catalytic convertors, but do not know how effective they'll be without the smog stuff.

Will they be effective to some degree if I add a catted X or H pipe?

But may be short lived without the air pump....

Or may be fine for a decade. All depends on how your engine runs

After I finish adding a few things engine wise I'm gonna take it for a dyno tune. Hopefully it'll run clean enough to keep the cats happy...

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t modern high flow cats able to work as intended without the thermactor?

Yes but they are designed for a more efficient burning engine. The computers in modern cars control more stuff going into the combustion chamber.

They are, but modern engines also burn much cleaner not requiring the air pump system.

Can only do so much sticking a modern cat on an old engine

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
