Sorry for another exhaust question.

I just installed a 2.5" mac pro chamber h pipe for shorty headers. I also installed the mac mufflers and I dumped them at the axel.

I dont much care for the sound. I have my american thunder 40 series mufflers. I am thinking of swapping them back onto the car.

I had the 40 series with the catted h pipe. It was very quiet.

I guess my question is have any of you tried the mac mufflers and then went back to the flows? Did you like the sound better?

The macs are loud and make the car rattle alot.

One of the other members here asked if the macs are open chamber mufflers.
I dont know, Are they?

Thanks.

The two mufflers are very much the same thing. Mac's are louder. It's a 50-50 split for who like what better. Personally I think without tails the both suck. Get tails and run the flows would be my suggestion.

I do have the tails for the flows. It was an exhuast shop made set. I would have to do some rework to make it all go back together.

I am going to put the flows back on and see how it sounds.
I got the prochamber and mufflers used, since it was a kit I figgured I would try it.

I just got thru reinstalling my flow masters is place of my macs. The macs were dumped before the axles. I ran the flows over the axle and dumped them on each side of the gas tank at the front of the tank. ( they originally went all the way back to the gt bumper I had to cut them to get them out so for now I am running them dumped as is)

It sounds so much better inside the car and I love the way my american thunder 40 series sound compared to the macs. The pro chamber even makes it sound more throaty. I am very pleased.

i run dumped macs and i like the sounds but all i have ever run is dumps on my mustang and i am starting to hate it. whenever i get around to doing body work on my car i am going to get a cobra rear bumper and get some tails for my macs.

i think tails make a huge difference in sound. i think the macs will sound better with tails. the dumps just get too loud inside, but the exhaust is alot easier to take out, so i guess is pros and cons of either of them.

I think tails would have helped. The macs were so rumbly inside the car everything vibrated. You couldnt even hear the tone of the exh.

My flows still had half the tails on them. I was able to slide them back over the axle and trim them so they dumped on each side of the tank near the front of the tank.

Love the sound and its quiet in car except at idle.
