haha i know what your talking about I too floated the valves in my 68 289. but i wasnt as lucky. i busted a lifter :S going about 65 in 2nd gear 3 spd auto tranny and 3.00 rear ( i think) it ticked a bit afterwards ......oops.

but yeah it could be your secondaries oppening orif it permanently sounds different, look for pin holes in the eshaust.

that depends on you valvetrain, and what springs you are running.
